SALT LAKE CITY (AP) One of Utahs largest hospitals had no beds left Friday in its regular intensive-care unit as the governor declared the state's weekslong spike in coronavirus cases unsustainable."
The University of Utah Health had to set up extra ICU beds staffed by doctors and nurses working overtime to care for its critical patients this week as the unit hit 104% capacity, said Chief Medical Officer Dr. Russell Vinik.

If true why hasn’t the Governor asked Trump to send in the Corps of Engineers?
In reality hospitals can gear-up additional ICU beds fairly quickly. It makes no economic sense most of the time.

if these hospitals would actually treat people with treatments known to work and which are successfully used by nearly the entire rest of the world, it wouldn’t be such a crisis ... instead all they pretty much do is watch people die ...

The article is full of weasel words. OK, maybe the “regular” ICU is full. . . of whom?? Folks in accidents, folks with major health problems or, OMG, someone suffering from CRAZY-19.
Folks, you (we) are being gaslighted. I suspect that come November 4th all of a sudden CRAZY-19 will begin to fade.
In my 67 years I never expected this kind of CRAZY but here it is.

The current numbers show 307 hospitalized with 102 in ICU for covid. According to the news story they are at 73% of the states capacity right now. The numbers don’t make sense.

104% is only a slight surge...hospitals are set up to handle this with surge procedures.

And they can offload others to other hospitals. That’s what hospitals do on a daily basis.

Not enough information to really tell.
How many beds does the unit usually have? How many more were added? How many of the new cases required hospitalizations? Of those requiring hospitalization how many had other health issues? Were those other health issues left untreated or undiagnosed because the priority given COVID case? What is the hospital policy regarding when COVID patients are admitted to ICU?
