Most Voters Who Went Third Party in 2016 Are Backing Biden Over Trump This Year
Morning Consult ^ | October 22, 2020 | Eli Yokley

A sizable share of Americans eschewed the major-party dichotomy and voted for third-party candidates in 2016, helping deliver the White House to President Donald Trump.

But four years later, almost all of the likely voters who opted against both the Republican and Democratic nominees last time around aren’t planning to do so again, Morning Consult Political Intelligence tracking shows — and a slim majority are siding with former Vice President Joe Biden.

Daily tracking of likely voters conducted Oct. 16-18 found 53 percent of likely voters who opted for someone other than a major-party nominee in 2016 said they’re backing Biden in this year’s election, while 21 percent said they’re supporting Trump. Another 14 percent said they would vote for a third-party candidate again, while 12 percent are still undecided. The data is based on surveys with 359 likely voters who backed someone other than Trump or Clinton in 2016, with a margin of error of 5 percentage points.

I watched a Cavuto interview with the Libertarian presidential candidate. She made a hell of a lot of sense.

Yeah I’m calling BS on this “poll”. I haven’t met a SINGLE third party voter from 2016 who is cheering on Biden this time around. If I find one, I’d LOVE to ask them how Hillary was unacceptable but Biden is fine and dandy. As much as I loathe Hillary, at least she wasn’t senile and didn’t go around creepily sniffing little girls.

Hillary is definitely much more hated than Biden. A lot easier for RINO types to go Biden. He has obvious deficits but he’s their nominee cause he’s honestly the best they got, Sanders? Commielah? The fag? Liawhatha?. Klobuchar, and Bloomberg (who would have turned off the rat base badly) are the only other candidates they had that weren’t jokes. (I think GABBARD and YANG were actually their strongest GE candidates but they were no chancers).

Turd party? Those are people that willfully wasted their vote. Some Greens might hate Trump enough to hold their nose but Johnson voters?

You know what’s funny? Kasich wrote in McCain or something, Larry Hogan said he wrote in REAGAN, a dead man!!!. Gary Johnson must look at stories like that and cry.

Okay, I don’t know how indepedents who voted third party in 2016 vote for a corrupt, establishment candidate like Biden. Trump is losing his rookie status, but he is still the foremost enemy of the establishment.

Klobuchar
Booker
Bullock
Hickenlooper
Warren
Castro

All would be better than Biden
Biden is a mess

He’s getting arrested

I doubt he gets arrested.

And definitely disagree on Warren, no one likes that bitch. She’d terrorize suburban men and scare wall street (which is sucking off Biden right now).

Bribery, money laundering lead to unreported income, tax fraud ... the IRS takes these things very seriously

I might have voted for Perot but Perot made it clear to me that he was not in it to win but just to spoil Bush when at the very time it looked like he was unstoppable he sabotaged himself by dropping out for a few weeks. And the reason was obviously BS.

If I had been old enough, I would have voted for Schmitz in 1972 and Anderson in 1976. I actually met segregationist Lester Maddox during the 1976 campaign.

During the Clinton, Bush and Perot race I was a squishy democrat. I was a Teamster at the time and very naive. I happened to see the 60 Minutes interview of Bill and Hillary and the slime dripped from them. It was the first election I voted in and quite frankly in retrospect I chose the least of the evils. Looking back it may have been the best vote I ever made until I pulled the lever for Donald J. Trump.

This election is being set up as a fight over differing personalities; and WAY too many people will 'vote' (a thumbs up/down is what they've learned to do) for the guy they 'like' the best or is perceived to be the 'nicer' of the two.

Folks had BETTER look at the respective party platforms (Yeah - sure) to see where the REST of the coattail clingers will be taking this nation.

My uncle used to always make money at the horse races because he never bet on horses; but on the JOCKIES.

They are much closer to Republicans than Democrats.

True; but then the folks who have come to not care for Trump's personality and manner might vote for them; who have NO chance of winning but could very well shift the election to the fella that they REALLY don't want!

I personally know a Mormon Romneybot who voted for Egg McMuffin in 2016 is voting Biden this time. I tried to talk sense into him but the hate is just too deep.

HMMMmmm...

Any feedback from MormonLand??

Might help to know where you and the self righteous Romney Bot reside? Helps to know the lay of the land.

In the Phoenix metro area. He and I are actually ex coworkers from a previous company. Yesterday I tried to persuade him to at least not vote for Biden if he couldn't bring himself to vote for Trump. But to no avail. He will vote for Biden because he wants Trump to lose. There is an irrational hatred of Trump among GOP NeverTrumpers that rivals or exceeds the hatred from the Left.
