  • Celebrities Encourage Americans to Vote For 'Gun Sense Candidates' In a VERY Pathetic Ad

A group of Hollywood celebrities came together to support gun control group Everytown for Gun Safety. Stars like Kevin Bacon, Michael J. Fox, Susan Sarandon, Alysia Reiner and others talked about what voting is like for them and how important it is for Americans to support "gun sense candidates," you know, those candidates who want strict gun control laws. The ad itself is rather dumb. Instead of talking about why they support gun control and disarming law-abiding citizens, this Everytown for Gun Safety ad focuses on "making a plan to vote."

Shay Kivlen, a survivor of the tragic shooting at a Madden tournament in Jacksonville, Florida last week that left two gamers dead, has joined forces with Parkland activist Cameron Kasky and Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans to raise money for the victims’ families. Kivlen, whose gamer name is “Young Kiv” spoke with Townhall Thursday about his experience at the tournament and how people have banded together to help his gaming family in the wake of such an awful tragedy. After losing his friends and fellow gamers Elijah Clayton and Taylor Robertson in the shooting, Kivlen received an outpouring...
  • Salon Misses The Point On Sales Surges Following Mass Shooting Incidents

I don’t expect the people at Salon to understand much about guns. Most of them wouldn’t know the difference between fully-auto or semi-auto if it jumped up on their face and wiggled. Yet, as a large-ish news outlet, I do expect them to try and figure out just what is going on before they write something and not just pay lip service to things.

Gun violence dominated national headlines this past year. If it seemed as if you heard about another shooting incident every day, you were not far off. In 2015, the U.S. did not go for more than eight days without a mass shooting. Yet gun control remains a highly divisive issue. But what if social entrepreneurship could offer answers? "This year, the number of deaths from gun violence is expected to exceed the number of car fatalities,” Margot Hirsch, president of the Smart Tech Challenges Foundation (STCF), a nonprofit focused on reducing gun violence through technology and innovation, pointed out at...

A new report says the U.S. military is authorizing service members who are at remote locations – such as a recruitment center – to be armed, even if they’re not in law enforcement. In fact, a military spokesman said commanders already had the authority to “arm qualified troops at recruiting and other off-base sites.” Whether that’s a clarification of existing authority or an expansion, the protocol certainly now is being emphasized that the U.S. military needs to be aware of “the continuing threat to DoD personnel in the U.S. homeland posed by Homegrown Violent Extremists.” According to a report at...
  • Loopholes in I-594

I-594 makes it a crime to transfer a gun to another person without doing a background check except for some particular exceptions. Using just one example will demonstrate a particular egregious chilling effect upon our right to keep and bear arms. Suppose your spouse wishes to use your gun for a week or two while their gun is being repaired. You would think there shouldn’t be a problem with an innocent act like this. You would expect there would be an exception in the law for this. The closest thing to an exception for this case is: This section does...
