If Donald Trump wins, then Michael Richard Pence, vice president of the United States, will be well positioned to serve Trump's third and fourth terms as president. Pence is only just now beginning to emerge from relative obscurity on the national stage, therefore many voters do not recognize him as the proto-Trump he is. If you like Trump but find him abrasive and overstated, you will love Pence, even if you learn his name only in the 2024 campaign. Any mystery about Alabama's runner-up trophy from last season was answered Thursday. It exists no longer. A video posted from the Instagram account of Crimson Tide receiver Jerry Jeudy shows strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran destroying the hardware. He raised the trophy above his head and threw it to what appears to be the locker room floor. Cochran finished off the remains with a sledgehammer. The language was not suited for all ages. PHOENIX - The Confederate monument that stands at Wesley Bolin Memorial Plaza, just outside the Arizona state Capitol, looked a little different than it usually does Tuesday evening. In addition to its memorializing of Arizona Confederate soldiers and its erectors, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the statue got a few new decorations. At the top, a ribbon hung with the words, "You lost, get over it," and at the bottom, the monuments message "A nation that forgets its past has no future" had been covered with a "2nd Place," "Participant" banner.

I think Ted Cruz had a problematic week, but I do not think it has impacted him negatively with his base. The most interesting observation to be made this coming week and over this past weekend is what Ted Cruz does with and how he treats those who like him, but were willing to also be critical of his performance on television talk shows.
