This post was published on 11th July 2019 The Teen Who Sailed Across The World – Robin Lee Graham Posted By: Emily Thompson In 1965, 16-year-old Robin Lee Graham set out to sail from California. At the time, he said he just wanted “to be on my own and explore.” But he returned five years and 30,000 miles later, as the youngest person to ever sail around the world solo. His only companion was an ever-changing crew of cats. Robin was a nonconformist in search of something bigger. He was sick of the regimentation of the classroom and craved freedom....

About 16 years ago, a close friend was involved in some dangerous affairs in far lands.  Because of the legal climate, firearms were out of the question.  I gave him a pair of Cold Steel Bushman knives.  They were inexpensive enough that confiscation or loss was not a great financial burden; they were big enough, tough enough, and versatile enough to be useful.  Or, so I thought.I have maintained contact with my friend, and he has had adventures that make the hair rise on the back of my neck.  He has come through it all intact, gained a wife...

Intrepid Explorer: The Autobiography of the World's Best Mine Finder, by J. David Lowell 496 pages, Published by Sentinel Peak Press, University of Arizona, 2014 J. David Lowell is a hero directly out of Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged, but in real life.  This little promoted book is an inspirational account of a life built on the American dream, a questioning and active mind, physical courage and achievement that enriched the entire world.  The book is a true life adventure novel.  It was hard to put down.  I read longer into the night than I should have. It was impossible...

Cary Grant exceeds in a John Wayne/Humphrey Bogart-type role as their leader and the beautiful Rita Hayworth impresses in one of her earliest performances as his ex-flame. Definitely one of Hawks' best and the finest of his 5 films starring Mr. Grant.

It's Passover, and although Barack Hussein Obama's lineage is far removed from that of Abraham, the man should at least put a little of the emergency transfusion blood that they bring along in the president's motorcade over the lintels of his door. Mr. Obama's first trip to Israel as president was similar to his Jakarta jaunt in 2010 and his "Return to Moneygall" tour in 2011. In Indonesia, the trip was cut short when Java's Mount Merapi began spewing ash in Air Force One's direction. In Ireland, while revisiting his roots, Obama's limo got hung up on a bump as...

In November 1947, the United Nations was considering the creation of a Jewish state in parts of Western Palestine and a new Arab state in the other parts. The hopes of the Jews rested in large part on China. The five-member Security Council had to approve putting the resolution before the General Assembly, but China, one of the five, was threatening to veto it. The head of the Chinese delegation was approached by a hero of the Chinese campaign against the Japanese during World War II, a man who had been a general and senior adviser to President Sun Yat-sen....

Actually, I would appreciate if people didn’t remake anything. Some originality would be nice.  While, I would appreciate no remakes, this goes double for ones with Arnold Schwarzenegger. It as actually quite interesting how many of Arnold’s films were science fiction or fantasy based.  It is also interesting how every remake of one of them is a complete flop.  The latest edition of Total Recall going to the remake scrap-heap is prime example.  Great CGI, No originality and No Arnold equals epic fail.  It seems the original which was recently called ‘cheesy’ by some critic did far better at the box office than the new one which...
