A radical group linked to rogue billionaire George Soros has been providing scripts containing anti-Trump talking points for constituents to read aloud during congressional town hall meetings. A tabulation error has thrown in doubt the election night victory of Rep. Tim Bishop on Long Island and given Republicans hope that they may add yet another seat to their new majority in the House of Representatives. Officials in Suffolk County said the error, discovered Friday, shifted several thousand votes and erased Bishop's 3,500 vote margin. That put Republican challenger Randy Altshuler ahead by just under 400 votes in New York's 1st Congressional District. I'll post more on this when I have it, but two sources who are familiar with the recanvassing of the voting machines in NY-1 tell me that GOPer Randy Altschuler, who'd been down several thousand votes to Democratic Rep. Tim Bishop is now up between 300 and 400 with the recanvass completed. There's over 9,000 absentee ballots to be counted starting next week, but the Republican had been down by 3,400. UPDATE: Altschuler spokesman Rob Ryan says the number is 392 and that it was the number their campaign lawyer received from the Board of Elections.

Rep. Tim Bishop (D-N.Y.) barely managed to celebrate the holidays before being reminded he’s facing his toughest challenge since first elected in 2002. Bishop’s Republican opponent, businessman Randy Altschuler, is already up with his first campaign ad – with over 10 months until the election. The ad, which begins airing today, ties Bishop to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the dysfunctional political culture in Albany. “Tim Bishop is all about the old way: big government, more taxes, more spending,” Altschuler says in the ad. “My top priority is to create a pro-growth environment, lower taxes and more jobs."

Businessman Randy Altschuler is mounting a challenge to New York Rep. Timothy H. Bishop, heightening the possibility the four-term congressman will face his first tough re-election battle. Altschuler, a successful entrepreneur and prolific Republican donor, launched his campaign Tuesday, declaring that he is "committed to bringing my business experience - combined with a realistic, common-sense approach to problem solving - to help lower taxes, reform government and create jobs."
