More pets are being abandoned, abused or neglected than ever before, according to the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The ISPCA is calling for private kennel owners to lend their kennels to accommodate growing numbers of neglected animals that cannot be housed elsewhere. It is part of an emergency appeal by the ISPCA called Stop the Pain, which is being launched today. A 31-year-old man in Florida was arrested for allegedly holding a sewing needle to his neighbor’s neck and threatening to kill him before nearly beating his roommate’s raccoon to death with a hammer. (CBS12) — There is a federal investigation into the reported harassment of a manatee, found with the word "Trump" written on its back, in a story first reported by the Citrus County Chronicle.
