The owner of the home said she was renting her residence to a group of four people who said they were from Colorado, and she had told them they were not allowed to have parties. After neighbors complained about the noise, the homeowner checked her security cameras and saw dozens of people inside of her home. A report of a woman heard screaming first drew a police response to the neighborhood, LAPD officials said in a written statement. The Minneapolis man accused of throwing a 5-year-old boy from a third-floor balcony at Mall of America last month has pleaded guilty to attempted premeditated first-degree murder. Emmanuel Aranda, 24, entered his plea Tuesday morning in Hennepin County court, admitting he knew throwing a child over a third-floor balcony could kill him. A family spokesperson has said the boy is now out of critical condition, and is alert and conscious. The family hopes he will be able to return home by June. An apartment balcony near the University of California’s Berkeley campus collapsed early Tuesday, killing five of the 13 people who fell from the fourth-floor structure, the city’s police said. All five who died in the collapse at the Library Gardens Apartments were Irish citizens and were “for the most part students,” Irish Foreign Minister Charlie Flanagan said in a radio interview in his country Tuesday.
