For the second night in a row, peaceful protests over the in-custody death of George Floyd quickly turned violent Wednesday night, with multiple building structures set ablaze, widespread looting, and continued rioting. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey requested Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to deploy the Minnesota National Guard following the social unrest. Demonstrators torched multiple building structures, including an apartment complex and surrounding buildings, an AutoZone, and other retail stores. At least a dozen stores were looted and or damaged. “That’s like five buildings on fire,” one demonstrator said while talking to Unicorn Riot News. https://twitter.com/hellaindividual/status/1265929876378316802?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1265929876378316802&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fconservativeus.com%2Fvideo-suspected-looter-reportedly-shot-dead-by-pawn-shop-owner-during-riots-in-minneapolis%2F Another horrifying moment came when...

Crime scene techs with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation returned Wednesday to the neighborhood where Ahmaud Arbery was gunned down while out jogging. Channel 2 investigative reporter Mark Winne went down to Glynn County, where GBI investigators also met with the FBI. Following that meeting, Winne spoke with the GBI’s head investigator who gave him new insight into the case. “The arrests are only a part of the investigation. There’s a lot more work to be done. A lot of work has been done,” said Scott Dutton, head of the GBI’s investigative division. “(We’re doing a) reexamination of the crime...

The Oklahoma legislature passed SB 1081 on 15 May, the last day of the legislative session. It was one of the last bills passed in 2020 before the legislature adjourned. It appears to be the first anti-red flag law passed by any legislature. The legislature passed the bill, had it signed, enrolled, returned to the House, signed, returned to the Senate, and sent to the Governor, all on the same day.A legislature can act quickly, when there is sufficient will to do so. The anti-red flag bill was introduced in 2019, by Senator Nathan Dahm. Dahm wrote an op-ed, published...

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. — A active-duty soldier at Fort Leavenworth is being hailed a hero for intervening and ending an active shooting Wednesday morning on the Centennial Bridge. Police say his actions saved multiple lives. Leavenworth Police Chief Patrick Kitchens said officers were called to the bridge at 11 a.m. for a report of shots fired that was originally reported as a result of road rage. When officers arrived they found one man with a gunshot wound and another man trapped under a car. Emergency crews took both to a Kansas City hospital with serious injuries. Hillary Clinton says “domestic terrorism” has come to America via armed and angry quarantine protesters in Michigan. The former secretary of state blasted citizens who showed up outside the state’s capital building this week to protest Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic, which has claimed the lives of roughly 87,000 Americans nationwide. “Armed men storming a legislature to disrupt its democratic proceedings is domestic terrorism,” Mrs. Clinton wrote. “It cannot be tolerated.”

Blast from the Past - A 20th Century Pocket Gun that was ahead of its Time - At the beginning of the 20th century semi-automatic magazine fed pistols were a novel concept. However, this era gave us the iconic M1911 and the German Luger just to name a few. There were many others that popped up into the scene but were left behind as time went by. One pistol that was forgotten but had a really good design was the Remington Model 51 which was developed during the prohibition era of the United States. At this time John Browning may...

Attorney General Becerra grabs guns, Gov. Newsom deploys “trace force” of 20,000. “Gun violence is the last thing our communities and children should have to fear during a public health crisis. Background checks can save lives and DOJ’s firearms operations help make that happen. At the California Department of Justice, we’ll keep doing our part to keep firearms out of the hands of violent and dangerous individuals.” That was California attorney general Xavier Becerra last week, but his announcement failed to cite any example of actual “gun violence.” The former congressman, once on Hillary Clinton’s short list as a running...

Preemption law reform is moving in Louisiana and becomes effective in West Virginia at the end of May. As with nearly all states, Louisiana has a statute that preempts local governments from enacting ordinances or regulations which are in conflict with state laws regarding firearms. The idea is that firearms laws should be uniform statewide, so that people exercising their right to keep and bear arms will not be in violation of the law simply by crossing a street from one municipality to another, or one county to another. Some states have rigorous preemption laws, other states have minimal laws.HB...

Ten people died and 39 others were wounded in weekend shootings in Chicago — the deadliest Memorial Day weekend since 2015, when 12 people were killed. In 2018, seven people died and 30 others were wounded. In 2017, six people were killed and 44 others were wounded. In 2016, six people were killed and 56 wounded.

A group of sidewalk counselors says a man taking his girlfriend to a Detroit abortion facility pulled a gun on them. A Facebook post shared by the abortion abolitionist group Free the States showed a man holding a gun, claiming he was angry that sidewalk counselors pleaded for him to save his baby. “This young man brandished a firearm and pointed it at the sidewalk counselors/evangelists gathered outside of the abortion mill where he recently took his child to be murdered,” the post read. “He threatened to shoot them if they kept on preaching the Gospel.” While the photo does...

The founder and CEO of Black Rifle Coffee Company, Evan Hafer, said he would rather return to combat than face rebuilding his business again from scratch. "This is the hardest thing I've ever done in my life and I'm a former Green Beret [who] spent seven years in combat zones," Hafer told veteran correspondent Lara Logan on her Fox Nation show "No Agenda with Lara Logan." In Season 3 of "No Agenda," Logan investigates the current state of affairs of America's veterans through the eyes of those who served — from veteran entrepreneurs to those carrying out humanitarian missions, to...

Hertz, which started with a fleet of a dozen Ford Model T’s a century ago and became one of the world’s largest car rental companies, filed for bankruptcy protection on Friday after falling victim to its mountain of debt. The coronavirus pandemic has devastated Hertz by grounding business travelers and tourists, making it impossible for the company to continue paying its lenders. A sharp drop in used car prices has also decreased the value of its fleet. “They were doing quite well, but when you turn off the revenues and you own all these cars and all of a sudden...

Hertz Global Holdings Inc. is preparing to file for bankruptcy as soon as Monday night if the company fails to rework its debt and can’t get lenders to extend a grace period on a missed payment. The rental-car company has been talking to some of its creditors about how to ease its burden without going through bankruptcy, but negotiations have been a struggle and the company is preparing to file for Chapter 11 court protection, according to people with knowledge of the matter. Hertz could file this evening, though Tuesday would be more likely if a deal isn’t reached. The...

Mass IT layoffs are often small and unnoticed. They are not on the scale of the Carrier air conditioning plant layoff; its Indianapolis facility, which currently employs 2,000 people, is moving to Mexico. Hertz IT employees share two things with the Carrier workers: They were also angry, and they got the news on the same day, Feb. 10. The Carrier layoffs arrived guillotine-like; the plant is closing, period. But IT layoffs are rarely like that. There are ambiguities and uncertainties and lifeboats for some, and so it was at Hertz. In an early morning conference call, Hertz's IT employees were...

“Did you know Hertz is putting cameras in rental cars!? This is bullsh*t. I wonder if it says they can tape me in my Hertz contract.” [snip] The system can’t be turned off from what I could tell. Further investigation revealed that the camera can see the entire inside of the car. I know rental car companies have been tracking the speed and movements of their vehicles for years but putting a camera inside the cabin of the vehicle is taking their need for information a little TOO FAR.
