Fair warning: Do NOT update passwords until advised by FR admins that the site is back to normal. After seeing the raft of posts, I believe that the server was either mirrored or hijacked. I just now recalled that about an hour or so ago my screen header said 'sign in'. I hit refresh a couple of times and didn't pay any attention to it. I now believe that those who signed in exposed their accounts.
  • Iran parades 'coronavirus radar' that can 'detect cases from 100 yards'... which looks similar to fake 'bomb detector' device sold by British fraudster who was jailed in 2013

Iran paraded a device this week which it claims can detect coronavirus cases from 100 yards away - but the contraption looks remarkably similar to a fake bomb detection gadget once flogged by a British fraudster. Iranian Revolutionary Guard chief Hossein Salami boasted that 'local scientists' had invented the 'state-of-the-art' device to detect virus cases 'remotely' without the need for a blood test. How this would work is unclear, but Iranian media claimed the device had an '80 per cent accuracy' rate and could eventually be adapted to 'detect all kinds of viruses'.

Harvard Professor Raj Chetty and a group of other researchers have performed a much-discussed study (via Gene Expression) that looks at what factors really affect things like income, your likelihood to own a home, and odds of getting married. The most startling thing they found? Your score on a very basic kindergarten test is a HUGE predictor. Other educational factors like class size and the quality of your teachers aren't nearly as important. Given the renewed interest in educational policy in America right now, it's fascinating.

Tijuana -- San Diego State is a U.S. university with one foot in Mexico. But studies south of the border are on hold after California State University administrators prohibited all university-sponsored activities in this sprawling city. Drug war violence, they say, poses a threat to visitors. Many students think the only thing threatened now is their education. "This ban is devastating.… It puts an end to my research here," said Alaina Gallegos, 29, a student of Latin American studies and public health. Such students as Gallegos, along with faculty and Baja California state officials, are mounting a campaign to overturn...

Organizers of a new march on Washington are offering Americans the opportunity to show President Obama their birth certificates and declare that unless he produces documentation of his eligibility to occupy the Oval Office, he should quit. The event is headed by Philip Berg, the first to bring court challenges to Obama's eligibility under the U.S. Constitution's requirement that presidents be a "natural born citizen." While a number of cases, including several of his own, remain pending, Berg told WND today the issue needs to be pressed. "Since the courts are taking their time to get to the point of...

A recent example emerged last summer, when a Flint, Mich., scrap plant discovered a beat-up kitchen cheese grater that was radioactive. The China-made grater bearing the well-known EKCO brand name was laced with the isotope Cobalt-60. Tests showed the gadget to be giving off the equivalent of a chest X-ray over 36 hours of use, according to NRC documents. Estimated to have been in circulation for as long as a decade, the grater likely was four to five times more radioactive when it was new. EKCO's parent company, World Kitchen, of Rosemont, Ill., described the incident as isolated and found...
  • What Makes a FReeper a FReeper?

I often wondered what exactly makes a FReeper a FReeper? Is it the simple act of reading articles on FR? Do you have to post articles or replies? To call yourself a FReeper do you need to engage in effective activism like writing letters to politicians, getting out in the street to carry signs, or, is being a FReeper an attitude. If so, what attitude is that? Knock yourself out.

GLASGOW, Scotland - One suspect from the Glasgow airport crash was in critical condition Saturday with severe burns, police said, adding that a "suspect device" was found on him. A Jeep Cherokee trailing a cascade of flames rammed into the airport earlier Saturday, shattering glass doors just yards from passengers lined up at the check-in counters. Police linked the crash to two terror plots in London. Britain raised its terror alert to "critical" — the highest possible level — and the Bush administration announced plans to increase security at airports and on mass transit. Both suspects were arrested at the...

I am curious why none of the media covers the most important aspect of the Malvo shootings. If you look at Newspapers on the dates when the shootings are underway you discover something I find quite interesting. The shootings begin to dominate the news the day before the debate on the Iraq war starts and they catch them the day after the declaration of war??? If you ask most people "do you remember the debate about starting the second Iraq war", they will all answer "yes of course". But if you followup with the question "name one point in the...

I recently received a reply to a post that stated: "This should be beneath a "freeper". Sad." So I asked.. what is it that makes a FReeper? My reply (and I will admit was tasteless) was also questioning. It stirred controversy and was removed? Why Moderators? Can you not tell me? Did it not meet with your "FReeper" mentality? According to all posted guidelines it should be listed but no, you chose to delete it. Yes.. I'm the first one IBTZ, I'm sure you'll nick me for speaking up..
