The press is reporting another mass-casualty crash near the Texas-Mexico border, based on a Border Patrol vehicle chasing a smuggler's car loaded with illegal aliens, driving at 100 miles per hour. Five people were killed and several others were injured on Sunday in a high-speed car chase involving Border Patrol and an SUV allegedly carrying illegal aliens from Mexico into Texas. NBC News reports that at around 11 a.m. on Sunday, immigration officials stationed near the town of Big Wells in southwest Texas spotted three SUVs they believed to be smuggling undocumented immigrants [sic]. Agents stopped two of the cars, they...

Construction started Friday on the US-Mexico border wall project at ...San Diego County. The work will replace about 14 miles of scrap metal wall that stands up to 10 feet high with a wall between 18 and 30 feet tall. The new wall will also have an anti-climbing plate. Crews will build the wall starting half a mile from the Pacific Ocean, east to the bottom of Otay Mountain in East County.
  • Would you donate money to build the border wall?

Rep. Diane Black, a Republican running for Tennessee governor, has introduced legislation that would let people and companies donate to the construction of a U.S.-Mexico border wall. Her bill would create an account at the Treasury Department to take donations that would be used to fund President Trump's biggest campaign promise, after Congress failed to give him the $25 billion he requested in January. "While Democrats block commonsense border security and put illegal immigrants before our families, we are going to put America first. Real immigration reform cannot be achieved without a secure border," Black said in a statement. The...

Laredo Sector Border Patrol officials say one of their agents shot and killed an illegal immigrant after the agent came under attack. An agent responding to a call about alleged illegal activity in the Rio Bravo area near Laredo came upon a group of illegal aliens. A statement provided by Laredo Sector officials said the agent came under attack by “multiple subjects using blunt objects.” The agent managed to draw his service-issued firearm and fire on the attackers, officials stated. The agent fired at least one round that struck and killed one of his alleged attackers. The remaining illegal aliens...

President Donald Trump is set to bump up his request for (FY 19) border-wall funding by $500 million, a new report says. The president will request at least $2.2 billion to build the wall in the budget for the next fiscal year, which begins in September, according to Politico.

President Trump said Monday he has “instructed” Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen not to allow “large caravans of people” into the U.S. as a group of Central American migrants starts to reach the border, calling the situation a “disgrace.” “Despite the Democrat inspired laws on Sanctuary Cities and the Border being so bad and one sided, I have instructed the Secretary of Homeland Security not to let these large Caravans of people into our Country. It is a disgrace. We are the only Country in the World so naïve! WALL,” Trump tweeted early Monday. The president’s directive came as a...
  • DHS to build 20-mile wall along border in New Mexico

    The Washington Times ^ | April 9, 2018 | Stephen Dinan
Homeland Security began building a border wall in New Mexico on Monday, moving to replace vehicle barriers with a modern fence that will deter pedestrians attempting to cross in the remove desert west of El Paso. The 20-mile project has been on the books for some time and the contract was awarded Jan. 22, meaning it was finalized before the recent fight over border wall money in the new 2018 spending bill. But the administration says it wouldn’t have been built but for President Trump’s push for more border wall. “We need effective barriers to deny the entry of illegal...
  • The Military Can Secure The Border and Build The Wall; Pres. Trump is Right to Call Out the Troops

The United States has 14,000 troops in Afghanistan, 39,000 in Japan, 34,805 in Germany, 23,000 in South Korea, and around 5,200 in Iraq. Our military protects the borders of countless nations. Except our own. In 1919, we had 18,500 soldiers on the border. “Twice a day every foot of the border line is patrolled by cavalrymen and infantrymen,” the New York Times noted. A hundred years later, President Trump’s proposal to use the military to secure the border is controversial even though Marines fighting drug cartels have come under fire from drug smugglers. El Salvadoran migration has inflicted 207 murderers...

On many issues -- naming Scalia-like judges and backing Reagan-like tax cuts -- President Trump is a conventional Republican. Where he was exceptional in 2016, where he stood out starkly from his GOP rivals, where he won decisive states like Pennsylvania, was on his uniquely Trumpian agenda to put America and Americans first -- from which the Bush Republicans recoiled. Trump alone pledged to kill amnesty and secure the border with a 30-foot wall to halt the invasion of our country. Trump alone pledged to end the de-industrialization of America and bring back our lost factories and lost jobs....

Trump administration officials said Monday they’re crafting a new legislative package aimed at closing immigration “loopholes,” hours after the president called on Republicans in Congress to immediately pass a border bill using the “Nuclear Option if necessary” to muscle it through. “Border Patrol Agents (and ICE) are GREAT, but the weak Dem laws don’t allow them to do their job. Act now Congress, our country is being stolen!” President Donald Trump wrote in a series of sometimes-misleading tweets, fired off after returning from a holiday weekend spent in Florida with several immigration hardliners. Trump also declared protections for so-called Dreamer...

I really don’t have anything to moan about today. Yesterday was lovely, 60 degrees, bright sunshine and a light breeze. This has been an unusually dry winter in the West with snowfall way below average. That bodes ill for the summer when fire danger will run high and reservoirs will run low. For now the ski resorts are still open but down in the valley the snow is gone, the hiking trails are getting busy and the annual migration has started.Easter Sunday along the Willow Creek trailI noted that there was some discussion yesterday about the migrating hoards. I spotted...

President Trump tweeted something very suggestive this morning, indicating that he may use the powers of the executive to work around the $1.3 trillion abomination’s limitations on the border wall: Because of the $700 & $716 Billion Dollars gotten to rebuild our Military, many jobs are created and our Military is again rich. Building a great Border Wall, with drugs (poison) and enemy combatants pouring into our Country, is all about National Defense. Build WALL through M! — Donald J. • Trump: Border wall construction will start on Monday

President Trump said Friday that construction of his promised border wall would start "immediately" after signing the omnibus spending bill, which included $1.6 billion in funding for the wall. "We're going to be starting work literally on Monday," Trump said during an event Friday at the White House. "We have a lot of money coming to the border." Trump had threatened earlier Friday to veto the spending bill Congress passed on Thursday because it did not include sufficient funding for the wall and because it omitted expiring protections for young, undocumented immigrants.

Capitol Hill Democrats have rejected a White House bid to extend protections for so-called Dreamer immigrants in exchange for $25 billion in funding for President Donald Trump’s long-sought border wall as Washington talks on a $1.3 trillion catchall spending bill hit a critical stage on Monday. Disputes remain over immigration enforcement and a smaller infusion of wall funding, as well as a major rail project that pits Trump against his most powerful Democratic adversary, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. Monday’s developments were described by congressional aides in both parties who spoke on condition of anonymity because the talks remain...

President Trump broke from his inspection of border wall samples on Tuesday to castigate California's Democratic state government, saying that Gov. Jerry Brown is "doing a terrible job running the state." Trump's first visit to the nation's most populous state is to be brief — just one day — but long on symbolism. He spent about an hour inspecting border wall prototypes built at his direction in San Diego, and plans to speak at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar and travel to a fundraiser in Beverly Hills that is expected to raise $5 million for the Republican National Committee.
