  • MSM promoting TikTok while shunning Twitter

Have been noticing for weeks now that the MSM is ramping up their wokeness with regard to the TikTok spying issue. We see more states and governments banning tiktok apps from devices. And we see Elon Musk taking over Twitter. The two tend to be connected. MSM general interest stories now are almost all being 'found' on TikTok and used in newscasts. Next to nothing is being credited to Twitter. In general this is the MSM promoting the use of TikTok and almost discouraging the use of Twitter. Coincidence ? I say not.

  • REPLACEABLE BATTERIES ARE COMING BACK TO PHONES IF THE EU GETS ITS WAY

Back in the day, just about everything that used a battery had a hatch or a hutch that you could open to pull it out and replace it if need be. Whether it was a radio, a cordless phone, or a cellphone, it was a cinch to swap out a battery. These days, many devices hide their batteries, deep beneath tamper-proof stickers and warnings that state there are “no user serviceable components inside.” The EU wants to change all that, though, and has voted to mandate that everything from cellphones to e-bikes must have easily replaceable batteries, with the legislation...

  • Colonoscopy and Colo-guard matters

On medicare, 66 years young. Cologuard and colonoscopy. Seem insurance is pushing the 'pre-test' cologuard. If one tests positive then one is supposed to get the invasive colonoscopy procedure. I read that some insurance can rate or code a colonoscopy as a preventive procedure others as a diagnostic procedure. The costs can differ. A positive on the cologuard creates the diagnostic code, where no cologuard prior is rated a preventative code. Any freeper with feedback and first hand experience with these matters ?
  • Norwegian Cruise Line made us stay inside our cabin for four days! Is this legal?

Norwegian Cruise Line just forced a triple-vaccinated husband and wife to stay inside their cabin without reprieve for four days. And when the ship finally returned to New York, two burly NCL crew members inexplicably continued to prevent the couple’s escape. How is this possible? That’s what the bewildered COVID-negative duo wants to know. Kelly Cotto and her husband had never taken a cruise before last week’s bizarre experience. But after what they endured aboard Norwegian Cruise Line’s Gem, they likely never will again.
  • Pension startup headaches -- looking for suggestions

I have a pension from a diocese job I had years ago. It is supposed to start on January 1, 2022. Worked from 2007 until 2016. Had to wait until a certain age to start. I have repeatedly asked the pension management firm for documentation regarding the math and calculations for their arriving at the benefit amount. Does the law require them to accommodate my request ? What experience has any other freeper had in this type of matter? The contribution percentage changed in 2015 and I want to see that they didn't apply that from the beginning. Once I...

What is the law on purchase of new merchandise that ships defective? Please avoid bashing me because I use the sun. I just purchased a solar hybrid inverter from a distributor in MA for $3000. I am in FL. It does not perform correctly (as defined by an earlier model I already have that does work right) By email the company admits to a defect in the original release. It was shipped in version 1.00.00 of the firmware. The product claims a 10 year warranty. To fix the defect the company tells me to upgrade the firmware to version 1.3.0...

New to medicare, just turned 65 in April. This is likely more a Florida issue, than elsewhere in the country. Florida has more HMO and Medicare Advantage providers due to more seniors down here. History: Two years ago I had multiple image vision in my right eye. Was 63, found eye surgeon that said cataracts, agreed to do surgery for me at no more than the price medicare allowed. Done it. A month later he wanted to do the other eye. I put it off til recently so medicare would cover it. Unfortunately this Dr doesn't not subscribe with the...
