What a wonderful tribute to your son, and all who serve. I know I have told you to thank him for serving before, but please thank him again for me, and know that I am sending hugs and prayers your way.

You might get a kick out of a request my son made to me while he was in Afghanistan earlier this year. I have an AOL account so my children will have email addresses. My son, who is now truly a man after serving in a war zone as well, called and asked me to take off the parental controls of his AOL account. He didn't receive a letter telling him something he ordered on the net for his girlfriend at Christmas was not available. I had allowed only certain email addresses to reach him. I guess he is not my baby anymore. ;-)

Sure wish I could keep up with y'all! This is the best thread on FR, but you move so fast!

My son just got home from Afghanistan and I have 2 days with him. He is very angry at the atrocities going on in Iraq and is hoping he will be sent there as soon as his leave is over.

Our troops are the best. God bless them all.

I wondered why so many people were sending pics this week! Keep them coming and I'll add them as soon as I can.

The Freeper Photo Album is divided into rows of 10, and is a database that Nick Danger set up for me. Be sure to use the screen names shown above the pictures to navigate to another page. Those names change every time I add a new picture, so they can't be big huge easily readable buttons.

These threads are great, and I lurk hear several times a day, always going to the last post and reading backwards to see what the latest news is. Unfortunately, I don't have time to keep up with y'all. I should be working but I keep going downstairs to watch TV and then back here to see what this thread is saying before I get back to work. Thanks for keeping me informed. :-)

Did anyone notice that Hartung turned away from Sean and wouldn't look at him again after Alan told him to calm down?

Sean was having fun asking if he would like a signed copy of the book, and Hartung finally said "yes, he would sell it on eBay for a bunch of money." He never looked at Sean again, though.

Guess that showed Sean, huh? </sarcasm

Please send my thanks to the family of Cpl. Randal Kent Rosacker for the supreme sacrifice they all made for this country. He died trying to ensure that our children will be able to live without fear, and he died a hero.

I'll pray that his loved ones find some solace soon, and that the pain of this loss is eased by knowing he gave his all for a valiant cause.

Question, how is that an invading force can be ambushed, is there some rule of engagement that those being invaded must comply with?

Maybe you are putting too much of a nefarious meaning to ambush. In war, it probably is a good move to lie in wait and try to surprise the enemy. I wouldn't confuse "ambush" with "ruse" and "illegal" activities here.

We have heard about Iraqis acting as if they were going to surrender, only to open fire, or paramilitary thugs dressing as civilians. That is trickery. An ambush might mean only a strategic position to take advantage of the enemy.

War is full of danger. All our troops know one wrong turn could end in death or captivity.

I pray for those who have been captured that world opinion causes their captors to think seriously before they treat them inhumanely.

LOL, being the mother of a special ops guy, I don't have the same perspective on that news babe you recommended. ;-)

However.... if she turns you down, give her my son's phone #.

Back to the issues. I have been living and sleeping in front of the TV the past 5 days, but left it for a while tonight. I didn't hear Carolyn Glick. I was just impressed that she wanted to be there covering the war in spite of the legal risks she faced. Too bad she is an airhead. Wonder if we could get any of the Hollywood airheads to go over there for photo ops.

There was a thread this morning about this journalist. She writes for a Jerusalem newspaper, and the Kuwaitis apparently issued an edict that any reporter for an Israeli paper would be jailed. She entered Kuwait as a reporter for a sister paper in Chicago, basically deyfing them to question her.

She has seen lots of Islamic attrocities where she lives and appreciates those who are willing to face the evil of Islam.

Beyond that, I am super impressed with the 3rd ID. All our trooops deserve our respect and thanks.

You outdid yourself tonight! Thank you for the many Gotta See This Threads, which I always read.

After a weekend of angst and anger, this pic brought it all back in perspective. We are facing an evil that rivals anything known before, but we will not let our anger guide our actions. I am so proud of our troops.

    From another story just posted:

Womack shook the colonel awake just as a fragmentation grenade exploded next to his cot, spraying shrapnel and wounding Hodges.

The duo stumbled over each other in the smoke as they struggled to get out of the tent. The colonel emerged first, only to be shot in the leg by the suspect who had been lying in wait by the tent entrance with his rifle.

Womack said Akbar then ran to the next tent a few paces away and tossed a fragmentation grenade inside. When an officer ran out, Womack told the Times, "The guy just stopped, shot the officer in the back when he paused to put on his mask, then he kept on running."

Mom, your son IS exactly like that.

I read somewhere that Capt. Seifert was not killed by a grenade. He was shot when he ran out of the tent.

This Muslim scum not only lobbed three grenades trying to kill as many officers as he could, he pulled the trigger to make sure.

This is not resentment. This was a planned attack to try to do as much harm to the unit as possible by killing officers and to destroy the morale of his fellow soldiers.

I wish the entire 101st could have a moment with him individually before he is tried for murder and treason.

Heartbreaking. A good, decent and brave soldier dies and leaves a young family without a father/husband and already people are calling the Muslim terrorist in uniform a victim. I hope he fries, too.

According to Gaffney, we have eleven Muslim chaplains in the military, with eight of them being Wahabbi.

I saw him say that the other night! Unbelievable. You are absoutely right about the PC restrictions causing great, and quanitifable, harm to our country.

Akbar - who was born Mark Fidel Kools

Mama named her baby after a communist leader? I have a sneaky suspicion that this dirtbag was not raised with any sense of patriotism at all. Of course he will become the darling of the left.
