More than 40 years after three women were raped and murdered in the Wynnton area, convicted “Stocking Strangler” Carlton Michael Gary faces an execution date in the grisly slayings. An order was filed Friday in Muscogee Superior Court, setting the seven-day window for the execution to begin at noon Thursday, March 15 and ending at noon a week later. Gary has concluded all his direct appeals, including state and federal habeas corpus proceedings. District Attorney Julia Slater was unavailable for comment because of a death in the family. The actors are among those gathering outside Fort Benning, Georgia, to protest a military school there. The school serves as a military training center for Latin American soldiers. Protesters claim graduates of the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation were involved in human rights abuses in the 1980's. Ricky Todd Godsey, who was charged Friday in connection with the theft of 300 sticks of explosives from Robinson Paving Co., was still being held Saturday in the Muscogee County Jail.Godsey, 23, was charged with felony theft by taking and possession of destructive devices in the materials discovered missing on May 23 in Columbus.
