  • White House cocaine was found near the Situation Room and NOT in the West Wing visitor entrance: Drug story changes for the SECOND time as Secret Service now says dime bag was found in a more 'secure' location

    Daily Mail UK ^ | July 6, 2023 | Emily Goodin,
A new twist has emerged in the investigation of the cocaine discovered at the White House on Sunday - it was actually found in a different location. The bag of powder was found in a cubby near the White House's West Executive entrance, not the formal West Wing lobby, NBC News reported citing multiple sources. That entrance - which is in the West Wing but on the floor below the lobby - is also a heavily trafficked area, a description White House officials have used as a way to explain their doubts the culprit will be found. Numerous details about...

Okay people. You all know that this year is the 100th anniversary of the Cubs' first season in Wrigley Field. You also know that as of last year the national version of WGN no longer carries Cubs games. The Chicago station does, but the "superstation" apparently makes more money showing episode after episode after episode of a show called "Bluebloods" (which I know absolutely nothing about) than it does showing the Cubbies. So I looked up the radio station that currently carries the games and found it online. Well guess what? At game time I get the very beginning but...

The media obsession with “dirty tricks” by Sen. Ted Cruz stands in stark contrast to the benign neglect of the slash and burn tactics of GOP frontrunner Donald Trump. The media seems to be treating Trump’s slanders and threats the way they coddled Vice President Joe Biden, with the chattering class seemingly uttering in unison, “Oh, that’s just The Donald.” As Sean Hannity noted on his Twitter feed, Trump tweeted recently a version of his “don’t mess with me” mantra, summing up his modus operandi very concisely: “I’m very proud of this record. Wouldn’t this be good to have for...

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — In one of baseball's sweetest traditions, Stan Musial would play "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" on his harmonica for the so-called seventh-inning stretch of baseball's Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Johnny Bench has stepped in for the 91-year-old Musial, doing a pretty good Harry Caray imitation. On Sunday, in Ron Santo's honor, Bench put on a Cubs jersey before he went to the podium and slipped into character. "Ron would have loved it," Vicki Santo, Ron's widow, said afterward. "He and Johnny were such good friends. He would have thought it was hysterical. He would...

Carlos Zambrano's dugout and clubhouse run-in with teammate Michael Barrett ended with Barrett going to the hospital with a split lip. CHICAGO -- Instead of swinging for the fences, the Cubs now are taking swings at each other. Chicago pitcher Carlos Zambrano, apparently angered by Michael Barrett's defensive mistakes, took a swing at the catcher in a dugout scuffle Friday in the Atlanta Braves' 8-5 win over the Cubs. Zambrano (5-5) and Barrett had to be separated after a skirmish in the dugout in the fifth inning. The Braves had just scored five runs, including one on a combination passed...

When former Cubs reliever LaTroy Hawkins tried to get Billy Williams to read one of the racist letters he received, Williams refused. ''I didn't want to read it,'' Williams said. ''So he told me its content. People might be angry, but they don't need to revert to that. Someone has to be sick to sit down and write a letter and try to get personal.'' Williams, who broke into the big leagues with the Cubs in 1959, had his own way of dealing with mail. ''When I looked at the envelope and didn't see a return address, most of the...

It's the only battle Cubs players won in 2004, chasing popular broadcaster Steve Stone away from the team he loves. Stone shocked Cubs fans Thursday by announcing his resignation as the team's color analyst, leaving two huge voids in the club's TV broadcast booth. Play-by-play man Chip Caray had already left to take a job with the Atlanta Braves. ''It was a very, very difficult decision -- something I agonized over,'' Stone said Thursday night from his home in Arizona. ''The toughest part of the decision is it severs a tie with Chicago. I've been there all or parts of...
