After the July 22, 2018 Danforth attack the media and police utterly betrayed themselves by conspiring to suppress the Islamic terrorist link. On July 22, 2018 Faisal Hussein, a Canadian-born 29-year-old male of Pakistani heritage and Muslim faith, opened fire with a handgun on citizens along Toronto’s Danforth Avenue, killing two and wounding 13. After an exchange of gunfire with police Faisal Hussein turned his gun on himself. Faisal was known to police. He had posted favourable comments on jihadi websites and had recently visited Afghanistan.

Top Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin’s lawyer for the email investigation has a glaring conflict-of-interest in the case: he was an Obama administration “point person” on Benghazi who dealt with classified information and exchanged redacted emails with Hillary Clinton. Miguel Rodriguez of the Washington law firm Bryan Cave is part of Abedin’s big-money legal team and is already handling communications with the government on her behalf during the scandal. But Rodriguez brings some personal baggage to his role as Abedin’s counsel ... Before joining Bryan Cave, Rodriguez served as deputy assistant secretary at Hillary Clinton’s State Department; then he was...
  • Joe Biden Locker Room Promise to John Danforth: Make Sure Anita Hill Testimony was ‘Very Quick’

Joe Biden made a promise in the Senate men’s gym to keep Anita Hill‘s testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee “very quick,” according to former U.S. Representative Pat Schroeder. That promise was apparently made to then-Senator John Danforth of Missouri, a Republican. Danforth was Clarence Thomas‘ chief sponsor during Thomas’ 1991 Senate confirmation hearings. In a wide-ranging interview with the Washington Post on November 16, Hill and five of her biggest congressional boosters–all former or current female Democratic politicians–sat down to reflect on the strenuous ordeal that Hill went through during those hearings. Without fail, each of the six women...

A vice president is never more important than at the instant of being chosen, because the choice tells you so much about the person who does the picking. When the doors are closed, George W. Bush doesn't have to listen to advice or stroke Republican egos; he can say what he pleases. John McCain? asked a friend. Gimme a break, said Bush. Ohio Congressman John Kasich, Bush argued, isn't ready for the job. Pro-choice Pennsylvanian Tom Ridge might cost him too many pro-life votes in states where a point or two will make the difference. And it has been clear...

A former Republican lawmaker and U.S. ambassador to the United Nations blasted President Donald Trump in an opinion piece published this week. Former Sen. John Danforth, R-Mo., wrote in The Washington Post that Trump is not a true Republican because of one main reason: he stands against having a unified nation.

John Danforth can comfort himself over that if he likes by asserting that Trump doesn’t represent Republicans, but Republicans themselves have been pretty clear over the past 26 months what their view of that is.

The domestic violence in Shepard’s past is both shocking and repulsive in detail. On February 15, 1998, police were called to then-Mrs. Shepard’s house (the couple had been separated since June of the previous year) by a girlfriend. According to the police report (.pdf file), Mrs. Shepard said of her husband: Read on. Joseph entered my home. I told him to leave. He came up to me looking angry. I put my hands up to protect my breasts as they are sore (cancer). He has hit me before in the breast. He grabbed my wrist and arm and pushed me...

Former Republican Sens. John Danforth of Missouri and Warren Rudman of New Hampshire are running the McCain-Palin 2008 Honest and Open Election Committee, and, according to them, they are running scared – scared of all the registration mischief out in the field that may just drop a bomb on Election 2008. “Our mission is to make sure that everybody who is entitled to vote gets to vote without any intimidation, but also that there is no stuffing at the ballot boxes, no fraudulent voting, and also that the rules are the same for everybody,” announced Danforth at a teleconference with...

Former New Hampshire Sen. Warren Rudman has been tapped by Republican presidential nominee John McCain to co-chair a new campaign committee that will deal with voter fraud issues as the election nears. Rudman and his fellow co-chair, former Missouri Sen. John Danforth, told reporters on a conference call yesterday that voting and registration issues are already surfacing in many states, although New Hampshire was not among them. Rudman said that the election "ought to be decided by voters, not lawyers." The McCain-Palin Honest and Open Election Committee wants to ensure that "every qualified citizen has a right to vote in...

Nov. 9, 2006 - Until recently Lisa Greening didn’t know a stem cell from a jail cell. But earlier this year, the bookstore owner from University City, Mo., spotted a new hardback by her former U.S. senator, John Danforth, titled “Faith and Politics” in which he bemoans the influence of evangelical Christians on the GOP and the country. Greening, 36, went on to see Danforth speak and emerged incensed by what she considered the religious right’s distortions on the issue of embryonic stem-cell research. “The extreme right is going around scaring people that [scientists] are going to steal women’s embryos,”...

On Sunday, C-Span 2 featured former three-term republican Senator, John Danforth, to talk to Chris Haynes of the First Amendment Center, to discuss his new book entitled “Faith and Politics” that assails what he sees as the sinister dominance of the apocryphal “religious right” within the Republican Party. It was noted and discussed that he is an “ordained Episcopal priest.” Ann Coulter has already made an observation that most people accept that the Episcopal Church is “barely a church.” They have homosexual marriages, homosexual priests, homosexual bishops, and it represents one of the decaying mainline denominations that have surrendered and...

Preview and Analysis of the Weekend Talk Shows for 9/23 & 9/24/06The campaign to trash President Bush and beatify President Clinton gets into high gear this week.  Perhaps now we know why the Clintonistas were so frantic to kill or discredit The Path To 9/11, because it had the possibility of preempting their re-re-re-re-launch of the "Clinton Legacy" (Take 843).  This is a contest between the Bush and Clinton world views.  Bush views the world in terms of western civilization representing humanity's progress up from barbarism.  Clinton views the world in terms of America's sins and how we must be...

It's not discomfort with religious values in public life that's behind his new drive, the senator insists, but concern that religion is being used to deliberately divide Americans. Politics practiced rightly is the glue that keeps a diverse nation together and the catalyst that moves it forward, he believes. Yet today the political arena is plagued by rancor and incapable of resolving the most crucial issues confronting America. He sees a link between that unhappy state and the power of Christian conservatives within his own party. He's stirring a ruckus, he hopes, so that others will speak up. This week,...

WASHINGTON (AP) - Is the Christian right the Republican Party's real political base or have conservative Christians taken over the GOP, forcing the party to meet their demands? For former Missouri Sen. John Danforth, the answer became clear when the Republican-controlled Congress intervened in the case of Terri Schiavo, the brain-damaged Florida woman who died after her husband won the right to remove her feeding tube. "The effort to keep Terri Schiavo alive artificially became a religious crusade and Republicans in Washington responded to a core constituency, even though it meant abandoning traditional Republican philosophy," Danforth writes in his new...

A recent Washington Post profile on Jack Danforth, a former Republican senator from Missouri and an Episcopal priest, doesn’t pull any punches. “Jack Danforth,” it begins, “wishes the Republican right would step down from its pulpit. Instead, he sees a constant flow of religion into national politics. And not just any religion, either, but the us-versus-them, my-God-is-bigger-than-your-God, velvet-fist variety of Christian evangelism. . . . Danforth [says he] worships a humbler God and [he] considers the [religious] right’s certainty a sin.” This judgmental tone is all too common these days. And it’s unfortunate that Jack Danforth is going along with...

--snip--Danforth draws no connections between the divisions bared in the Thomas debate and the polarization that bedevils Congress today. He recalls a more pleasant era of coalitions and compromises that gave way to ever fiercer partisanship starting in the early 1990s after Thomas was already on the bench. He dates the beginning of the downslide to the arrival in the Senate of sharp-tongued former House Republicans. --snip--That certainly dovetails with the argument of Baptist Sunday school teacher and certified Democrat Jimmy Carter, who pursues the theme in his hot-selling recent book, "Our Endangered Values," with 750,000 copies in print. He...

The "Danger" of Christianity - by Lores Rizkalla (FReeper 'Just A Woman') Upon rolling out of bed this morning, I was awakened by the delightful aroma of Hazelnut Creme brewing in my coffee maker. After savoring every sip of the warm comfort-in-a-cup, praying and reading out of my Bible, I bounced out of bed to jump start my day. While I confess I failed to pray for my president and other government leaders today, that is part of what I do as a Christian. Whether a conservative or a liberal is in office. While I have yet to look at...
