Sen. John Ossoff (D-Ga.) – who famously ripped his Republican opponent David Perdue as a "crook" over his personal stock trades during his successful bid for the Senate in 2020 – has portrayed himself as a champion of the movement to ban congressional stock trading. The Georgia Democrat co-sponsors a bill that would ban members of Congress their spouses or children from trading stocks while in office and require them to place pre-existing assets into a blind trust – or divest them entirely...The issue is getting a fresh spotlight as advocates push for Congressional leadership to reintroduce the Open App Markets...

A special grand jury recommended last year that Atlanta’s district attorney charge three current and former US senators for allegedly aiding former President Donald Trump’s attempts to reverse his 2020 election loss. The panel urged Fulton County DA Fani Willis to indict Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and former Sens. Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) and David Perdue R-Ga.), according to its 28-page report, released Friday. Willis, an elected Democrat, did not immediately comment on her decision not to charge the trio when she indicted Trump and 18 alleged co-conspirators on Aug. 14 on charges including racketeering, historically used against organized crime.

"All hail the people of Georgia, who just rejected one poisonous big lie and disproved another. Republican primary voters overwhelmingly re-nominated Gov. Brian Kemp over ex-Sen. David Perdue, former President Donald Trump’s chosen standard-bearer for his 2020 “stolen election” fantasies."

A scandal is brewing in Georgia's Republican gubernatorial primary, with candidate and former Sen. David Perdue accusing incumbent Gov. Brian Kemp of engaging in shady backroom deals and lining the pockets of liberal megadonor George Soros as part of a massive new economic development project in the Peach State.

An overwhelming majority of respondents in a new poll — close to 60 percent — say they would back Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) should the Republican primary be held today. Polling released by boutique consulting firm ARW Strategies showed that Kemp received 59.4 percent of support among respondents in comparison to Republican gubernatorial challenger, former Sen. David Perdue’s (R-Ga.) 21.5 percent. The polling also found that Senate candidate Herschel Walker (R-Ga.) would receive 58.5 percent of the vote should the Republican primary be held today. The next highest percentage received by a Republican candidate is Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Gary...

Former President Donald Trump is escalating his support for former U.S. Sen. David Perdue’s uphill battle against Gov. Brian Kemp. Trump will host a tele-rally for Perdue on Monday to kick off the three-week early voting period, and the former president might return to Georgia for a third in-person rally to attack Kemp before the May 24 primary.

RINGGOLD, Ga. (AP) — As he met with voters recently in a part of northwest Georgia where Donald Trump is still very popular, David Perdue invoked his belief in the lie that elections in 2020 and 2021 were stolen from the former president and himself. “First of all, it was stolen,” Perdue said. “The facts are coming out.” When the rally was over, Perdue visited the storefront office of a group that similarly espouses election falsehoods. Perdue posted a photo on his Facebook page of himself beaming as the group’s cofounder talks under a banner proclaiming “a legal vote requires...

Gov. Brian Kemp has a chance of landing an outright victory against former U.S. Sen. David Perdue, according to an Atlanta Journal-Constitution poll that shows the Republican incumbent with a hefty advantage over his Donald Trump-backed challenger. Kemp led Perdue 53% to 27% in the poll of likely voters in the Republican primary, which is now less than a month away. That would put the governor above the majority-vote threshold needed to avoid a June runoff. Other challengers were in the single digits; an additional 15% were undecided. The poll was conducted April 10-22 by the University of Georgia’s School...

ATLANTA (CBS46) -- The race for Georgia’s governorship begins with the GOP Primary in just six weeks. Former President Donald Trump has endorsed David Perdue, but his attempt to unseat Brian Kemp isn’t showing up in the polls. CBS46 obtained a Landmark Communications survey of nearly 700 people which shows Kemp at the top of the poll with 52% support, David Perdue at 28%, and Kandiss Taylor with 10%. In the race for Georgia’s Secretary of State, Congressman Jody Hice has a commanding lead at 35%, Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger is at 18% and David Belle Isle has 10%...

Speaking during a rally in Georgia on Saturday, former President Donald Trump suggested that his supporters would boycott the state's midterm election if incumbent Governor Brian Kemp wins the Republican Party's primary race. At the event, the former president supported several GOP primary candidates, including gubernatorial Republican candidate David Perdue, who is challenging Kemp. Trump has repeatedly criticized the governor after he refused to cave to pressure to investigate the results of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia. "David Perdue, who is a wonderful man, and incredible family, and who really got screwed by Kemp, is the only candidate in...

Over a year after narrowly losing re-election to the U.S. Senate from Georgia, David Perdue finds himself trailing Gov. Brian Kemp by 11 points in the Republican gubernatorial primary contest. That’s according to a new Fox News Poll of Georgia Republican primary voters, released Tuesday. Kemp receives 50%, while Perdue, whom former President Donald Trump endorsed, garners 39% among GOP primary voters. Ten percent are unsure or would vote for someone else.

David Perdue kicked off his campaign for governor of Georgia with an emphatic endorsement from former President Donald Trump. But since then, his primary challenge to unseat Brian Kemp -- the Republican governor Trump loves to hate -- has been a big flop. Perdue, a former US senator, has so far raised a fraction of what Kemp has in his campaign war chest. Very few Republican elected officials, operatives, donors and activists in Georgia have abandoned Kemp in favor of Perdue. And limited public polling hasn't been promising, either. "I think Perdue is on life support and knows it," said...

A “leadership committee” created by Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp under a new state law must stop spending money to get the governor reelected during the Republican primary, a federal judge ruled Monday. Former U.S. Sen. David Perdue, who's challenging Kemp in the primary, last month filed a lawsuit challenging the new law. Perdue and his campaign allege that the law gives Kemp a significant and unfair fundraising and spending advantage in the primary and asked the judge to declare it unconstitutional. The law, passed by state legislators last year and signed by Kemp, allows certain top elected officials, including the...

Clearly, election night this coming November is not shaping up to be a good one for Democrats. The historical trends alone all but guarantee they lose the House of Representatives, and the contemporary trends are no better, pointing to a large Republican wave that could also decisively shift power in the Senate. Yet, in the midst of all that darkness for Democrats stands the state of Georgia. Sure, they are probably going to get beat in Florida and Arizona, but Georgia is supposed to be different. It’s trending the opposite way, representing an oasis in the political desert for a...
