The sunny weather worked in favor of a group of nudists who took to the streets on Sunday for the second annual Nude Valentine's Day Parade. The parade began at noon in the Castro District, with the crowd making its way from Jane Warner Plaza to City Hall.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A San Francisco supervisor is fed up with the almost-daily displays of nudity in one city neighborhood. Supervisor Scott Wiener plans to introduce legislation on Tuesday that would make it illegal to walk around nude on San Francisco streets. The city currently allows nudity except in parks, on port property and in restaurants. Wiener's legislation would add city plazas, parklets, sidewalks, streets and public transit to the ban. It would, however, allow nudity at parades and street festivals.

The naked truth, it seems, is that San Francisco is once again going to emerge as a city ripe for ridicule -- or a beacon of free expression -- depending on your point of view. The latest issue? Public nudity. Supervisor Scott Wiener will introduce legislation today intended to get to the bottom of the gross-out factor when it comes to public nudity. His proposal would require people who bare all for all to see to at the very least place a towel or like item underneath them when they sit down. The proposed restrictions also would require nudists to...

Gay marriage is a hot issue right now, but it's not as titillating as another battle for equality: the right for women to go topless in public. That right is a fundamental one, according to the folks behind Go Topless, an organization dedicated to the belief that in order for America to be a truly equal society, women should be able to bare their breasts without fear of being arrested. Go Topless has been around since 2007, and its big push is Go Topless Day, an annual event held on the Sunday closest to Aug. 26, which is Women's Equality...

The Voice of Change is Stirring Us to Come UP from the Wilderness! Dear Friends and Intercessors: We are heading into two of the most rearranging, realigning months that we have ever known in the history of this generation. What occurs during these days will set a course for our lives and this nation. The Lord woke me at 1 o'clock on Tuesday morning, March 4th, 2008. As I walked into the bathroom I noticed a calligraphy verse: "Lean not on your own understanding." This verse lit up even though the light was not on in the bathroom. The verse...

Just one kiss. That’s all it took — to get thrown out of the IHOP in Grandview. “It was a kiss I would share with my uncle,” Blair Funk told me. Except it wasn’t her uncle she kissed. It was her honey, Eva Sandoval. Two young women sharing a kiss didn’t seem inappropriate to the other couple in the restaurant booth that night, Jackie Smith and the woman with whom she shares her life, Toni Smith. But someone watching the scene was offended. So later, the manager confronted them in the lobby and told them to get out. The way...

AUSTIN — Until they found the topless photos, Austin High School officials considered Tamara Hoover a model art teacher with a knack for helping students find their creative streaks. Now, she's fighting for her job. The photos, which were posted on Flickr.com by her partner, depict Hoover in the shower, lifting weights, getting dressed, in bed and doing other routine activities. Her abrupt dismissal highlights a new concern for employees: Your boss has Internet access, too. "People don't realize when they put their entire diary out there, they're giving very private information to the public," said Kate Brooks, director of...

A float in New York City's widely watched Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade will feature an open celebration of gay marriage, unless parade officials step in to block the performance. Writing on the op-ed page of Wednesday's New York Times, Broadway star Harvey Fierstein announced that he'll be cross-dressed as Mrs. Santa Claus on a float dedicated to his hit Broadway show "Hairspray." "According to legend, New York lore and two major Hollywood flicks, Macy's Santa is the real deal," Fierstein began, before dropping his bombshell news. "And tomorrow, to the delight of millions of little children [not to mention the...

County Board members said Saturday they have neither the power nor the intention to stop a troupe called Puppetry of the Penis from performing at the county-operated Rosslyn Spectrum Theatre, despite complaints that the show’s content makes it inappropriate for a municipal venue. Practicing what troupe members call the “ancient art of genital origami,” Puppetry of the Penis is slated to perform at the Spectrum from July 22 to Aug. 17. Performers manipulate their private parts into everything from a hamburger to their signature effort, the Eiffel Tower. A few Arlingtonians are not amused. “We should not be pandering to...

This writer witnessed no attempt by city police to arrest those who were publicly nude, and no attempts to urge revelers to cover their private parts. The San Francisco "gay" celebration occurred just two days after President George W. Bush visited the city on a campaign stop to...

Liza Minnelli is the latest star to become the subject of a fly-on-the wall show - but insists that it will be nothing like The Osbournes.
