I've always wondered about the origins and meanings (if any) behind others Freeper handles. Its a quiet Sunday morning, so I thought it would be an interesting topic to start the day. What's the story behind your handle?

Response time seems to be back to normal (for now). Sorry, don't know why. The system was dragging all day, but started working normally for the past hour or so. Thought maybe John had found and fixed the problem, but he said no. He doesn't know either. We have several servers running at the data center and most of them have been running fine. Could be the network switch or the front-end router/server (but it seems to be working fine). The database server isn't even breathing hard. The webservers are getting bogged down occasionally, but don't know yet if that's...

I'm very sorry (again), but our recurring response time nightmare is back (again). The good news, though, is John has finally checked in. He's been out of town a lot in the last couple weeks dealing with some urgent family issues regarding his other half's adopted child. Praying that works out soon. He also says his phone needs to be replaced and has not had time to get it done. The bad news is, he has not been able to resolve our server issue yet. He suspects it's some kind of intermittent error in our network switch or router and...

Is there a list of sites that we are not supposed to post from on FR? Usually if I try to post something from a restricted source, it prevents me from doing so immediately. I just posted something from USA Today that was removed. Is USA one of those sources that we may not post from? It was a story on trucking. Also, we used to get something from the mod citing our offense. That doesn't seem to happen any longer. Thanks

I signed up in 1998 and posted a few minutes later, I have encouraged others to do so lately and all they are experiencing are roadblocks. What are the current rules for new sign -ups as for responding and posting? Thanks

Last night around 10:30 Pacific, I posted two comments, one an embedded YouTube link (which of course didn't show up in the post), and the second, the URL to that YouTube of Trump's Saudi speech. This morning, the discussion thread is up and the comments are missing. No not that they were removed by a moderator. Never seen this before and after the recent downtime, raising this question in case anyone else has seen same. Maybe, if others are seeing comments disappear, there is an underlying technical issue?

Achtung! Don't mess with sidebars ("Configure Sidebar") for a few days. Some of the queries you may end up configuring will prevent you from accessing the site. As a work around I have reset the sidebars for everybody -- to be restored once the erroneous queries can be rewritten -- when I have the brains to do so (zzz) --- zzz (as a consequence, any changes you end up making will be obliterated once the great restoration of the glorious sidebar preferences is undertaken.)

Yes, I am logged in. Normally on iPad I can finger scroll up the writing box to see what I am writing as I write it. Now, for the past two days I cannot see what I am writing. I don't believe this is an FR issue, as it is happening on text conversations with otherse. As with Free Republic, I have to click the button to lower the keyboardscreeni order to see what I am writing. Editing is impossible. Anyone have any help?

We've all seen pages being slow to load / partial page loads for the last couple months. This goes beyond that. Two things I'm seeing: 1) Blank pages being "served". You hit a link, and get a blank page. 2) Connection errors - This is happening when posting a comment. When posting, I get a "server connection reset" error. Is it time to swap out the hamsters running the FR servers for some fresh ones?

A couple of months ago, my card was hacked, not my account, so I waited for a new one to re-submit my FR donation.

OK, I was a great fan of GWB, and joined here in the aftermath of the 2000 election... HOWEVER... This MF doesn't say anything, NOT ONE WORD, over the last 8 years of Obama destroying our country, and NOW he's all over the TV talking about how Trump needs to be investigated???
