Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) released her DNA tests recently, and it showed what we’ve known for years: she’s not really Native American. The allegation has hung around her neck since 2012. Warren has claimed that she has Cherokee ancestry. She doesn’t. She is 1/1024th Native American. I have more Native American blood than Warren…and I have none. All credit for that line goes to Donald J. Trump. If this is the new benchmark established by liberals to shield their own from terrible acts of cultural appropriation for personal gain, then I guess we can be whomever the hell we want. So, what to...

Sen. Elizabeth Warren's ex-husband co-founded a DNA testing company and wrote one of the first computer codes for making genetic comparisons. Jim Warren's career involved him in the kinds of genetic testing that Elizabeth Warren controversially invoked this month to prove that she had Native American ancestry. One of the two other co-founders of his testing company, FamilyTreeDNA, has worked with Carlos Bustamante, the Stanford University geneticist who administered a DNA test at Elizabeth Warren's request.
  • Cherokee Nation: Warren's use of DNA test 'inappropriate,' 'wrong'

The Cherokee Nation on Monday afternoon called out Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) for attempting to claim Native American heritage by releasing the results of a DNA test. The test, conducted by a Stanford University Professor Carlos Bustamante, showed that Warren has a Native American ancestor going back six to 10 generations ago, making her somewhere between 1/32ndand 1/1024thAmerican Indian. The Cherokee Nation in a statement said using a DNA test to claim connection with a tribal nation is “inappropriate” and “wrong.” “Using a DNA test to lay claim to any connection to the Cherokee Nation or any tribal nation, even...

Elizabeth Warren is not Native American. Her ancestry has been traced by Cherokee genealogists back to the early 1800s, as far back as there are records, and there are no Native American ancestors. The one potential Native American ancestor was Warren’s great great great grandmother, Sarah O.C. Smith, but an initial 2012 report about that was debunked and The Boston Globe was forced to issue a retraction.

PDATE: Some math by the Boston Globe was wrong. See below. It should be 1/1,024. What do you get when you put Senator Elizabeth Warren and 31 other white people in a room? One whole Native American. Warren is gearing up for what appears to be a 2020 presidential run. Ahead of such a move, she has decided to settle the question of her ancestry once and for all. Despite her claims, however, I don’t think it’s actually the answer she really wanted. Via the Boston Globe: Senator Elizabeth Warren has released a DNA test that provides “strong evidence’’ she...
