Vladimir Putin has said that Russian forces will destroy any F-16s delivered to Ukraine from its NATO allies "wherever they are," while at the same time insisting that Moscow had no intention of attacking any country in the alliance. During a visit to the 344th Army Aviation Centre where combat pilots are trained, in Torzhok, 160 miles northwest of Moscow, Putin was asked if Russian pilots would be "allowed to hit these targets at NATO airfields." Putin replied: "Of course, if they are used from airfields of third countries, they become a legitimate target for us, no matter where they...

Former House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) criticized Republican lawmakers over their inability to agree on spending bills as the Oct. 1 government shutdown deadline draws closer. “It’s nihilism, is what it is,” Ryan said during an event in Wisconsin. “We look like fools. We look like we can’t govern.” A handful of Republican hard-liners have refused to agree on spending, preventing the chamber from passing a short-term funding measure to avoid a shutdown. Infighting within the House GOP has been happening for weeks, with current Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) unable to make either side happy. On Tuesday night, House Republicans...

The FBI has obtained Pegasus spyware from the Israeli company NSO Group, which allows the agency to take complete control of a person’s phone without their knowledge. Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) has demanded answers from the FBI about how often it uses this invasive tool to hack Americans and whether the agency has gotten authorization from the courts to do so.“The American people have a right to know the scale of the FBI’s hacking activities and the rules that govern the use of this controversial surveillance technique,” Wyden said in a letter Tuesday to FBI Director Chris Wray.In particular, Wyden...

The study suggests that the omicron booster may not protect people from getting infected with the highly transmissible subvariant BA.5, which accounts for most COVID-19 cases in the U.S. currently, any more than the previous shots, despite the updated boosters being formulated to provide better protection against infection and severe disease against the current strains.

House Majority Whip Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC) said Thursday on MSNBC’s “José Díaz-Balart Reports” that he believes it would be foolish for Americans to vote based on inflation concerns rather than “voting rights.” Díaz-Balart asked, “Congressman, what do you say to people who say Washington can talk about all these big programs and everything else, but I’m worried about the cost of food? I’m seeing the cost of eggs shoot up, chicken, gasoline, you know, coming now with the winter heating. These are all concerns that hit very directly to people.” Clyburn said, “Well, let me make it very clear,...

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has closed the gap significantly between himself and Donald Trump in a hypothetical matchup in 2024, bringing him within single digits of the former president. Among registered Republican voters, about 45% said they would vote for Trump compared to 36% who leaned toward DeSantis, according to the most recent YouGov/Yahoo News poll, a 9-point difference and the closest any challenger has ever gotten to the former president in a GOP primary poll. The most recent numbers tighten previous polls that showed DeSantis trailing by 16 points in February and 23 points the month before that.

The request was a few months too late. The Meet the Press Show on NBC reached out to Congressman Don Young’s press office to see if the congressman could be on the show on Friday, June 10. “We would love to have him on the program if his schedule allows,” the request read. It may have been an intern who made the ask for the show that is the longest-running television show in history. If so, oops. The communication director for Alaska congressional office for Alaska’s at-large seat took to Twitter to give his deadpanned answer: “Unfortunately, @chucktodd, I don’t...

Excuse me if this is a stupid question, but if QAnon is such an existential threat to our republic, as the media and federal law enforcement agencies would have us believe, why haven't they captured or neutralized this threat? After all, we're not talking about cave-hopping, Tora-Bora dwelling Jihadis. The alleged threat isn't emanating from some faraway land. Supposedly, this group is home grown and the US government, we are also led to believe, is keeping close tabs on them. Yet, with the plethora of mind-bogglingly sophisticated tracking and surveillance technology at their disposal, are we supposed to believe the government is helpless against this seemingly almighty foe? Isn't obvious by now that this whole thing is a crock of BS? There, I said it.
