  • Here’s What You Should Know About the Four Justices Who Deemed Trump Ineligible to Run for President

Earlier this week, the Colorado State Supreme Court determined in a 4-3 ruling that Trump is ineligible under the 14th Amendment to appear on the ballot in the state. This nonsensical ruling essentially declares that even though Trump has never been convicted of, much less tried with sedition or participating in an insurrection, he is nevertheless guilty of such. The ruling is bound to be taken up by the Supreme Court, and experts on both sides of the aisle believe it will be promptly overturned. But that doesn't change the fact that four justices in the highest court in the...

A newly translated Hebrew text claims to reveal where treasures from King Solomon's temple were hidden and discusses the fate of the Ark of the Covenant itself. But unlike the Indiana Jones movie "Raiders of the Lost Ark," the text leaves the exact location of the Ark unclear and states that it, and the other treasures, "shall not be revealed until the day of the coming of the Messiah son of David …" putting it out of reach of any would-be treasure seeker. King Solomon's Temple, also called the First Temple, was plundered and torched by the Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar...

Officials are searching for a motive in the Pearl Harbor shooting that left two civilian employees dead and a third injured before the gunman took his own life. The shooter has only been identified as an active-duty US sailor whose submarine was docked at the shipyard near Honolulu. Rear Adm. Robert Chadwick, commander of Navy Region Hawaii, said he didn’t know the motive behind the shooting Wednesday. “We have no indication yet whether they were targeted or if it was a random shooting,” Chadwick said. Gunfire broke out around 2:30 p.m. at the base, which hosts both the Navy and...
  • [Catholic Caucus] Saint Gabriel, the Archangel (Gueranger)

White Greater Double SO FAR IN THE CHURCH’S CALENDAR, we have not met with any feast in honor of the holy angels. Amidst the ineffable joys of Christmas night, we mingled our timid but glad voices with the hymns of these heavenly spirits, who sang around the crib of our Emmanuel. The very recollection brings joy to our hearts, saddened as they now are by penitential feelings and by the near approach of the mournful anniversary of our Jesus’ death. Let us, for a moment, interrupt our sadness, and keep the feast of the Archangel Gabriel. Later on, we...

Berlin must work with Paris to improve and deepen the European Union, German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel urged as his Social Democrats weigh renewing a coalition with Chancellor Angela Merkel. France and Germany, once bitter enemies, “have a joint responsibility to develop all of Europe further,” he told AFP, highlighting “reform of the economic and monetary union” as a top priority. Historically, the two countries have been the powerhouse of the economic integration project that became the European Union; but French President Emmanuel Macron’s plans to shore up the 19-nation euro single currency area and deepen European integration are on...

Saxony court officials have decided this week that a Niedersdorf man can now legally sell his miniature gallow souvenirs, despite the fact they have reservations for Angela Merkel and her colleague Sigmar Gabriel on them. In a surprising decision by the Chemnitz judiciary, a citizen has been allowed to sell his miniature versions of the gallows used at the Dresden PEGIDA demonstration on October 12th 2015, reported the Süddeutsche Zeitung on Wednesday. The miniatures are based on the life-sized gallows carried in the protest in 2015, which had signs hanging from the hangman’s nooses with the words, “Reserved for Angela...

Germany’s foreign minister on Tuesday urged Europe to define and defend its own interests, warning that Washington’s retreat from the world stage may continue even after Donald Trump’s presidency. “The current withdrawal of the US under Donald Trump from its role as the reliable guarantor of western multilateralism is accelerating a change in the world order and has direct consequences on the perception of German and European interests,” Sigmar Gabriel said. He said that the current US administration had taken an “extraordinary distance” from its traditionally close relationship with Europe, which it now increasingly viewed as a “competitor or economic...

German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel warned against “national selfishness” in world politics on Thursday in his first speech at the United Nations General Assembly. “This worldview describes the world as an arena, a kind of battleground, in which everyone is fighting against everyone else and in which everyone has to assert their own interests, either alone or in alliances of convenience,” Gabriel told world leaders. “The motto ‘Our country first’ only leads to more national confrontations and less prosperity. In the end, there will only be losers,” he said, in a thinly veiled reference to US President Donald Trump’s oft-repeated...

Several weeks back I asked for prayers for Gabriel an 11 year old boy in an un-explainable coma. I have just received an update that is somewhat promising. While he is still in a coma Gabriel's parents were able to get him to a better hospital and they report they have a renewed sense of hope. If nothing else, since we have been praying for them and their son, Gabriel's parents have received a comforting grace from the Holy Spirit and this is of course very important since they are making decisions about Gabriel's future. Now they can think clearer.

German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel unleashed a volley of criticism against US President Donald Trump, slamming his “short-sighted” policies that have “weakened the West” and hurt European interests. The sharp words from Gabriel came after Trump concluded his first official tour abroad which took him to Saudi Arabia, Israel, Brussels and then Italy for a G7 summit. They also followed Chancellor Angela Merkel’s warning on Sunday that the US and Britain may no longer be reliable partners. Germany’s exasperation was laid bare after the G7 summit which wrapped up on Saturday with the US refusing to sign up to upholding...

Update: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has threatened to cancel talks set for Tuesday with German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel over the visiting diplomat’s plan to also meet rights groups critical of Israel’s government. Gabriel confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that Netanyahu had canceled the talks, scheduled for the same day, at the last minute. An Israeli official speaking on condition of anonymity told AFP that the cancellation was made after Gabriel declined to call off meetings with Israeli rights groups Breaking The Silence and B’Tselem. Breaking The Silence seeks to document alleged Israeli military abuses in the Palestinian territories, while...

I was chatting with a guy in a waiting room the other day about religion.  He related that his cousin converted to the Russian Orthodox religion and eventually became a bishop.  He said that his cousin believed that Islam was an evil religion and remarked about how unchristian it was to allege such a thing.  I replied that most Christians today refuse to acknowledge the truth about their own religions, let alone Islam. Is Islam just a bad or corrupted religion, or is it really evil?  This is why I believe it to be evil: The fundamentals of the Islam...

Germany Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel isn’t mincing his words. The pugnacious politician has called a NATO defense spending target being pushed by the US “completely unrealistic” for Germany. “I consider it completely unrealistic to think that Germany will achieve a defense budget of over €70 million per year,” said Gabriel on Friday. “I don’t know of a single German politician who believes that is either achievable or desirable,” he added. At a NATO summit in Wales in 2014, NATO members committed to working towards a goal of 2 percent of each state’s GDP being spent on their military by 2024....

German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel warned Thursday that continued Israeli settlement construction in the West Bank endangers the possibility of a two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians and could lead to war in the Middle East, Reuters reported. “We are concerned that unlimited construction of settlements will … make a two-state solution impossible and could increase the risks of conflicts in the Middle East, including possible war,” Sigmar Gabriel said during a news conference at a meeting of G20 foreign ministers in Bonn, Germany. Despite being one of Israel’s strongest allies, Germany has taken a more critical stance against...

What Wilson Didn’t Say About AfricaJoseph Wilson's Silent PartnersBy Fedora with help from a few FReeper friends Former ambassador Joseph Wilson has been a leading spokesman for critics who accuse President Bush of basing his case for war against Iraq on forged documents purporting that Iraq attempted to buy uranium from Niger. Wilson’s charge has been discredited by a Senate investigation,1 but what remains unanswered are questions arising from what is now known about French intelligence’s role in pushing the forged documents on British and US intelligence. The role of France and Wilson in undermining Bush’s case for war looks...

Activist Brigitte Gabriel lashed out yesterday at Khizr Khan, the Muslim-American father of a deceased soldier who criticized Donald Trump’s proposed ban on Muslim immigration at the Democratic National Convention, saying that Khan lied when he waved his copy of the Constitution at the DNC because Muslims can’t adhere to both their religion and the U.S. Constitution. “Listen, he stood up there waving the copy of the Constitution at the DNC,” Gabriel told Sam Malone, who was guest-hosting Mike Gallagher’s nationally syndicated conservative talk radio program. “Did he really believe that the U.S. Constitution is above the Quran? After 400 years in the Virginia dirt, the box came out of the ground looking like it had been plucked from the ocean. A tiny silver brick, now encrusted with a green patina and rough as sandpaper. Buried beneath it was a human skeleton. The remains would later be identified as those of Captain Gabriel Archer, one of the most prominent leaders at Jamestown, the first permanent English colony in America. But it was the box, which appeared to be an ancient Catholic reliquary, that had archaeologists bewildered and astonished... ...It’s the kind of discovery that makes historians, anthropologists, archaeologists,...
