GQ magazine was severely mocked for publishing an opinion piece that incorrectly said former Alabama segregationist governor George Wallace was a Republican. The op-ed, penned by Laura Bassett, described Wallace, a former presidential candidate, as a Republican who backed abortion so there would be fewer children for the government to support. Just one catch: Wallace was a Democrat.

The reporter writing the GQ story, Julia Ioffe, was fired a little over a year ago from Politico for making similarly prurient accusations against the first family, suggesting that President Trump was having sex with his daughter Ivanka Trump. After being fired from Politico, Ioffe joined The Atlantic‘s staff and she also writes for other publications–including this piece for GQ magazine

A film crew from Gentlemen’s Quarterly dropped by the Capital Research Center booth today in the “Hub” at this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) outside the nation’s capital. GQ is now home to the buffoonish Keith Olbermann, who blocks people on Twitter at the slightest provocation. (He’s done it to me twice — not that I’m complaining.) That’s his prerogative but he’s still a goof.

Both Hillary Clinton and GQ have a lot of explaining to do if the Politico has this story correct: According to Ben Smith, Hillary's campaign pressured GQ to kill a piece critical of her by threatening to withhold Bill Clinton's cooperation in the future. The editors of GQ caved into the threat and spiked the article: Early this summer, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign for president learned that the men’s magazine GQ was working on a story the campaign was sure to hate: an account of infighting in Hillaryland. So Clinton’s aides pulled a page from the book of Hollywood...

The enterprising GQ magazine may have come up with an explanation why former President Jimmy Carter does the things he does. Doing the things he does has a lot of people scratching their heads, including canadafreepress.com columnist Klaus Rohrich. "Jimmy Carter, the peanut farmer and former U.S. President, has a huge problem: his mouth," Rohrich wrote in The Trouble with Carter last August.
