Maura Healey is going from the basketball court to the Massachusetts governor's house, with a little under 30 years in between. The current Attorney General of Massachusetts is projected to defeat Republican Geoff Diehl, flipping the office back to Democrats after two terms under Charlie Baker. Not only is Healey the first woman to be elected to the office, she's also the first open lesbian to be elected governor in U.S. history.(Emphasis Mine)

A federal court has ruled that a lawsuit challenging Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healeys 2016 “crackdown” on so-called “copycat assault weapons” can continue. (Screen snip, YouTube, Comcast Newsmakers) A U.S. District Court judge in Massachusetts has denied a request from anti-gun state Attorney General Maura Healey to delay a lawsuit challenging her efforts to stop sales of so-called “copycat assault weapons” in what amounts to a victory for the four firearms retailers involved in the lawsuit, and the National Shooting Sports Foundation. According to the Worcester Telegram, U.S. District Judge Timothy S. Hillman’s eight-page ruling rejected Healey’s contention that the...

“I like you. You and me, we’re going to be best friends.” It is early January, and Eric Schneiderman is sitting in his 25th-floor office above Lower Manhattan, doing his best Donald Trump impression, puckering his lips into a duck face, scrunching up his nose and lowering his voice into something that resembles the president’s outer-borough growl. Schneiderman is recalling his meeting with Trump in 2010. Back then, Schneiderman was running for attorney general of New York, and Trump was still in his pre-birther, reality TV host phase. Trump had donated money to one of Schneiderman’s opponents in the Democratic...

Jersey City, NJ --(Ammoland.com)- The Huffington Post is reporting, “In 2004, the NY Times reported, “Mr. Healy, a diabetic, said that photographs showing him naked were the result of a night out drinking six to eight beers over a three-hour period—though he is still scratching his head and wondering how he ended up on the porch. ‘I wish I recall how I got back out there,’ he said. ‘But I don’t.’” Suddenly, nine years later and facing re-election, Healy spoke to Star-Ledger columnist Tom Moran: Last week he offered a new version of the story with a bizarre sexual twist....

The title says it all and explains why I could never back Foley with any kind of passion. Foley announced today he would concede the election, even as the Republican Party told the state it would fight on for the integrity of the system. Foley wanted to be Governor and it doesn’t surprise me fighting for the people of Connecticut was nothing more than a campaign slogan. Foley’s concession essentially amounted to this. Yeah sure, there were voting “irregularities”, but what the heck. I lost”.

We just got an email from a woman in Connecticut who heard a caller on a radio show tonight say she witnessed Democrats filling out ballots for unresponsive, dementia-addled patients in nursing homes. The caller identified two facilities by name. Can someone track down the names of those two nursing homes? For some reason, when a lot of you send these tips to us you leave out a lot of vital info…and then we need to sleuth this stuff out. In this instance, it would have been great to know the radio station call letters, the show and hosts’ names,...

Chris Healy, chairman of the Connecticut Republican Party, called Obama's speech "perfectly appropriate" and predicted that children would be excited to hear it. "I think people have got to relax," Healy said. "There is plenty to criticize the president on when he's speaking to adults. But he is a role model and a historic figure, no matter what you think of his policies. He's a smart person and he's a product of education himself." With GOP Chairmen like this, who need Democrats? Let Chris Healy let you know how you feel about his comments: email: political@ctgop.org Phone: (860) 826-7378 Fax:...

BOSTON --Congressional language that could kill a wind farm proposed off Cape Cod prompted Democratic gubernatorial candidate Deval Patrick to lash out Friday at Gov. Mitt Romney, Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey and Attorney General Tom Reilly. Patrick, a Democrat running for governor along with Healey and Reilly, chastised them and Romney for not opposing language that would restrict wind farms near shipping lanes. The measure, part of an $8.7 billion Coast Guard reauthorization bill, is being considered by a House-Senate conference committee that has been meeting in private. Patrick favors the Cape Wind project, and said the silence by Romney,...

BOSTON - Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey on Wednesday announced her bid to become the state's first elected woman governor, pledging to fight for lower taxes and education reform. In a speech to supporters, the Republican pledged to "stand up to the tax-and-spend attitude of the Democratic Legislature." She also said she would push to raise the legal age a young person can leave high school from 16 to 18. "To allow 16-year-olds to end their education is to sentence them to a life of disappointment, poverty or even jail," she said. Healey, 45, is looking to take over from Mitt...
