MSNBC national affairs analyst John Heilemann said on Friday’s “Morning Joe” that former President Donald Trump does not hide his “fascistic tendencies” or his “desire to be a dictator.” Heilemann said, “Donald Trump is not an undefined character in the American psyche. Everyone knows who Donald Trump is. Love him, hate him, somewhere in the middle, people understand who he is. There’s no thing not known, in some sense, about Donald Trump.”

Not that this will come as a surprise, but it is entertaining to watch NBC’s John Heilemann gleefully explain how “we” have a great opportunity to bludgeon President Trump and the GOP with the faux crisis at the border. In a mere 47 seconds, he gives the game away on a couple of fronts:

Ain’t that odd: based just on the transcript of his interview with Sean Hannity, John Heilemann can look at Roy Moore and say, “that’s a perp right there.” . . . So surely supersleuth Heilemann must have been aware of the sexual misconduct by Mark Halperin, which led to his firing from MSNBC and loss of other engagements. After all, Heilemann worked side-by-side with Halperin for a decade, co-authoring two books and co-hosting a TV show with him, among other projects. When I began watching my DVR recording of Morning Joe today, I was of course wondering which clip from yesterday's Weiner press conference Morning Joe had chosen to open the show. When instead a clip of Jon Stewart mocking Sarah Palin appeared, I literally wondered if I was playing the recording of the wrong day's Morning Joe. But as the first half-hour unfolded, it became obvious that Morning Joe had made a conscious decision to black out any mention of Weiner-gate during today's first half-hour.
