CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – The West Virginia State Senate has passed a bill designed to keep slow drivers out of the fast lane. Senate Bill 441 was introduced to the State Senate in January with a goal of restricting slow drivers from driving in the left lane, or the fast lane, of multi-lane roads. It would require drivers to remain in the right lane, except in circumstances such as passing a vehicle, preparing to exit to the left or if the right side of the road is in need of repair or otherwise unsafe to drive on, among other exceptions....

GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - As the 100 deadly days of summer moves forward, we wanted to take a look at how one recently passed state law is affecting drivers. The ‘move right’ law, or as many call it the ‘slowpoke’ law. “If you are traveling on a controlled access highway, you should stay out of the left hand lane unless you are passing or overtaking a car,” said Corporal Joe Hovis, with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Only two Idaho drivers have been cited for driving too slowly in the fast lane since the state’s new “slowpoke” law took effect July 1. Three other drivers got warnings that they better go the speed limit in the left lane or scoot over. Those numbers, current as of July 27, are from the Idaho State Police, which patrols the state’s highways. Tickets for speeding during that time frame — numbering 2,495 — far surpass these five cases of impeding fast-lane traffic. Thousands of people have been fined in the months since Virginia, for the first time, imposed penalties on people who drive too slowly in the left lane or commit other related traffic violations, data obtained through a public records request show.
