WAAAAAAY back when the BP oil spill was going on I gave a makeover to President Plug-the-damn-hole's logo.Well, that was then, this is now. Logos are supposed to define the person or organization they belong to. I originally did this back when Michelle Obama did this little Freudian slip to let us know that being president revealed who he is.I got rid of her quote to focus on just the icon...See it with no background here.
  • Brooklyn College spends $107,000 on outside design firm to ax supposedly phallic logo

She gave it the shaft. One of Karen Gould’s first acts as president of Brooklyn College was to thrust $107,000 into creating a new school logo — because the old clock-tower silhouette was supposedly too phallic looking, insiders said. Just months after Gould took the helm of the institution in 2009 as its first woman president, the college hired Baltimore-based Neustadt Creative Marketing to draft a new logo and redo the Web site. The company soon cut all visual references to the seminal symbol of the La Guardia Hall tower, erected in the 1930s. The new logo was all words:...

If your company offered you a pay raise to tattoo its logo on your body, would you do it? A New York City real estate company made the offer and dozens of employees are getting inked. As CBS 2′s Emily Smith reported Tuesday, a tattoo can be a way to show off your personality. For Rapid Realty employees, it is the fast track to a 15 percent pay raise if you get inked with the company logo. There are no size or location restrictions. Brooke Koropatnick got hers behind the ear. “I had a paycheck coming in what was a...

When you think about it, it's amazing that the high-minded swells at the University of California didn't unveil a new logo sooner. The old logo, which will continue to appear on diplomas and official letters, features the school motto, "Let there be light." Ancient. An English translation of a Latin phrase. And a book. Dead-tree lit. 1868? Dead white guys. Under a star. Too militaristic. But it wasn't political correctness that relegated the old UC seal to the dusty top shelf reserved for weighty documents only. The new logo, explained UC spokesman Steve Montiel, is "an operational thing." The seal...

Wisconsin school district has ordered a joint public-private school football team to change its logo – in the middle of the season — after a lone parent said the inclusion of a bishop’s hat and cross was a violation of the U.S. Constitution. Martin Lexmond, superintendent of the Shorewood School District, told Fox News that he made the decision to remove the logos after consulting with the school board. “It just didn’t occur to anybody that there might be questions about it,” he said. “A parent last week raised the question asking if this was a violation of separation of...

  • London Olympics Logo Running Man

So after seeing the thing for what, two years now? It occurred to me last night that the London Olympics logo looked like puzzle pieces. They even have 3-D shaddow to make them look like you can pick them up and move them around. So I did. And I found a running man! But even weirder, it seem the running man is supposed to be upside-down, on his head. Because only then can you read the "London" pice properly. Oh, and as a check, besides all the exact angles of the piece sides that line up, the word "London" is...

President Obama's re-election campaign has won at least a partial victory against a website it said was selling counterfeit merchandise with the campaign's signature "O" logo. A judge in Washington on Monday agreed to bar Washington-based Demstore.com from selling the T-shirts and buttons bearing the "O" logo. But the judge reserved judgment on whether the website should also be barred from selling...

North Dakota Votes Against Abolishing Property TaxBy SUSANNA KIM | Good Morning America – 13 hrs ago North Dakotans took their angst against property taxes to the polls today, an issue gaining traction in other parts of the U.S. Voters ultimately rejected the constitutional amendment on Tuesday. However, a measure to change the University of North Dakota's "Fighting Sioux" logo and nickname did pass. Polls closed at 8 p.m. central time on Tuesday. Measure 2 proposed to eliminate North Dakota's property taxes, which amount to $812 million annually, retroactive to Jan. 1 of this year. If the measure had passed,...

This may be the beginning of the end for the beloved Chiquita Banana sticker. Brazilian advertising agency, AGE Isobar, has developed a way to grow fruit embossed with company logos. The agency sealed tropical fruits in plastic molds that, if done correctly, would produce fruit bearing their clients' logo. In an AGE Isobar video, set to the tune of "Old McDonald Had a Farm," the agency walks the viewer through the process of growing, harvesting and displaying the branded fruits. A tour through a Brazilian orchard quickly turns from rustic to creepy and futuristic as a gardener displays baby guavas...

From Blogsphere: President Obama is trying to recruit a 2 million member-strong "Truth Team" to ensure that those speaking out against his administration are appropriately dealt with. I'm not kidding. The Obama campaign is today beginning a new effort to enlist and educate at least 2 million supporters for a “grassroots communications team” they’re calling the Truth Team... “The goal is to ensure that when Republicans attack President Obama’s record, grassroots supporters can take ownership of the campaign and share the facts with the undecided voters in their lives,” the campaign said in a statement. The teams will be first...

A Boeing 787 jet took corporate loyalty to new heights when it "drew" the letters "787" followed by the company's logo across several thousand miles of North American skies. The etching of the letters and logo, while not visible from the ground, can be seen in the flight path plans.
