WASHINGTON — The man accused of ramming a U-Haul truck into barriers near the White House earlier this week isn't a U.S. citizen, authorities said Wednesday. Sai Varshith Kandula, a 19-year-old from suburban St. Louis, wore an orange jail-issued jumpsuit in his brief courtroom appearance — his first since the Monday incident — when prosecutors requested pre-trial detention. A man with a record of mental health issues was arrested Sunday for stealing a school bus and driving it across Washington state then stealing a front-end loader and crashing it into his own house in Chewelah. Saturday morning, Andrew Loudon, 39, was released from Western State Hospital in Lakewood and made his way to Leavenworth over two and a half hours away. Former Florida data scientist Rebekah Jones was arrested on a charge that she hacked into the state’s emergency response system — and later learned she tested positive for COVID-19. Jones — who said she was fired from the state’s Department of Health in May for refusing to alter coronavirus data — turned herself in late Sunday, the Tampa Bay Times reported. Her attorney, Steve Dobson, said Jones, 31, was tested for COVID-19 after being booked into the Leon County Detention Facility, and learned she was positive on Monday.

On Tuesday, a statue of the Ten Commandments was installed at the Arkansas Capitol grounds. Less than a day later, it had been run over by a car and destroyed. Michael Reed, a 32-year-old from Van Buren, Arkansas with a history of mental illness, recorded himself ramming his car into the monument, shouting "freedom" shortly before impact. Reed has previously been accused of destroying a similar Ten Commandments monument in Oklahoma.

<p>U.S. Secret Service Special Agent Vincent Pescitelli said in a criminal complaint that Pickett "did knowingly and willfully make a threat to take the life of, to kidnap, and to inflict bodily harm" against Trump on Facebook.</p>
