Greetings fellow freepers of all stripes and shades! It's been a long long time since I last posted anything that was not fraught with frustration towards our "representatives" in congress or outright rage towards unelected government officials who have hijacked our constitutional republic. Well, it's time to come up for air. I am taking my oldest son (now 28) on a road trip that we had planned way back in 2009 but couldn't afford to because OBAMA. We are going to be attending the Reno International Air Races from the 12th to the 16th. We'll be driving down tomorrow at...

In March 2004, the Illinois Gaming Board awarded the license to the City of Rosemont, Illinois, adjacent to O’Hare Airport. In response to allegations that criminal interests aligned with the “Chicago Outfit” (AKA “The Mob”) were active in Rosemont, then Illinois Governor Blagojevich, now prisoner #40892-424 in the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, hired Eric Holder, former Deputy U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder during the Clinton Administration, to investigate, draft and release a report that would clear the Rosemont casino project with a clean bill of health. “‘The concern was Holder had a bias to do whatever Blagojevich...

The Dangers of Scientism By Philip Cottraux “Science, like other outmoded systems, is destroying itself. As it gains in power, it proves itself incapable of handling the power. Because things are going very fast now…it will be in everyone’s hands. It will be in kits for backyard gardeners. Experiments for schoolchildren. Cheap labs for terrorists and dictators. And that will force everyone to ask the question - ‘What should I do with my power?’ Which is the very question science says it cannot answer.” -Michael Crichton, Jurassic Park****** Atheists often accuse religious people of being anti-science. They cite past examples...

Medical school cancels honor society because whites and Asians were earning better grades than blacks and Latinos According to this article from NPR, at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, in order to get into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society, you have to be in the top 25% of your graduating class. The school is eliminating the honor society because not enough blacks and Latinos were graduating in the top 25%.I’m not sure how getting rid of this honor society makes anyone better off.On the contrary – I see this as just one more example...

ower Line is facing a test of its blognificence unlike any faced by a modern American website. It is not just that the googleplex of leftist internet censorship looms large. Or that the readership is bitterly divided between dog pic lovers and cat pic lovers. I am an anonymous senior level staffer for Power Line who works diligently behind the scenes to curtail John’s beauty pageant “news” stories, Paul’s soccer posts, Scott’s 27-part series on the five-string bass stylings of Chris Hillman, and Steve’s frequent metaphysical hallucinations. You might very well think I am called “Joe,” but I couldn’t possibly...

Ted Cruz’s Challenger, Beto O’Rourke has made a name for himself by saying that he can think of “nothing more American” than kneeling during the National Anthem. We can now add stripping American flags from a VFW hall to things he thinks are good. According to the Examiner, O’Rourke’s campaign had rented out a Veteran of Foreign Affairs Hall for a campaign rally in Navasota, TX, and requested that the VFW Post 4006 Commander Carl Dry take down the American flags in his building ahead of the event.

It may be hard to believe I had already been mulling over this topic and am not writing in response to anything, but it’s true. For weeks, maybe a couple of months, I have considered writing it, thought I was ready for it, pushed it back after the death of Sen. John McCain, and now, have pushed it forward in light of the same. He is not the subject of this reflection. Timing just necessitates I mention him. My focus here is Sarah Palin, the former governor of Alaska and McCain’s vice presidential running mate. I have shared many times...

The 2016 Republican primaries were one big "f you" to the establishment. We all know that Trump won the nomination, but it's easy to forget that the second-place candidate, Ted Cruz, was also anathema to the establishment. Indeed, one reason Trump won the nomination was because most of the Republican establishment refused to rally around Cruz; he was considered by some worse than Trump, and other were sufficiently hostile to Cruz they thought it was better to lose (as they expected) with Trump than potentially win with Cruz. Of course, Trump went on to win the presidency, even though virtually...

"""MUELLER Illegally Threatened Flynn with New Indictment & Prison for Endorsing GOP Candidates; Special Counsel Violated Laws""" Justice Department officials are blowing the whistle on U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Now we know why Mueller has continually delayed Mike Flynn’s sentencing: To silence the retired General and keep the influential Conservative out of politics and the crucial midterm elections. In May, President Donald Trump’s former national security adviser Flynn canceled a campaign appearance in Montana for Republican U.S. Senate candidate Troy Downing. Flynn cited an unspecified “family emergency,” as the reason for scrapping the appearance.

Wikipedia continues to violate its own “Neutral point of view†policy by censoring the “Transparency†section in its article “Presidency of Barack Obama†Wikipedia has a policy called “Neutral point of view,†which states the following:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Neutral_point_of_viewWikipedia:Neutral point of viewAll encyclopedic content on Wikipedia must be written from a neutral point of view (NPOV), which means representing fairly, proportionately, and, as far as possible, without editorial bias, all of the significant views that have been published by reliable sources on a topic.NPOV is a fundamental principle of Wikipedia and of other Wikimedia projects. It is also one of Wikipedia’s three core content...

Now I am just sure that the Power Line readership overlaps considerably with the clientele for the Burning Man festival, which is under way right now. (I understand that the “man” is going to be burned tonight, unless a Title IX action is brought first.) Okay, just kidding. From all I can gather about Burning Man, I think I’d rather be stuck with Dan Rather in a broken elevator. These days, if you say “burning man” in Washington, people will assume you mean Donald Trump and his latest tweet about the Muller investigation.

Pro-life advocates are fuming over a new billboard along a Dallas highway that suggests black women should choose abortion because it’s “self-care.” What does it say? “Black women take care of their families by taking care of themselves,” the billboard states. “Abortion is self-care.” The billboard is sponsored by a Dallas-based group called The Afiya Center. The center’s website states it is “Transforming the Lives of Black Women & Girls.” Also according to its website, “Our mission is to serve Black women and girls by transforming their relationship with their sexual and reproductive health through addressing the consequences of reproduction...

Mr Kitty spotted this young man during the live stream of McCain's funeral today. I think the kid may know something we don't.

I got a question I want to pose to the Freeper community. To be the consummate professional in the workplace, does mean you should be "courteous" as well? The reason I ask this question is this. Just recently I ran afoul of a co-worker because this co-worker took disagreement with me because of perceived flaws in my character. Basically that means, that person's liberal west coast values is in direct conflict with my conservative Midwestern values. Ever since then, it's "all business" and no idle chit-chat. When the situation finally exploded this week that person said that there is no...

It's been painful to listen to many on team MAGA complain about Attorney General Jeff Sessions, accusing him of ineptness and promoting the narrative that he needs to resign. This idiocy has spread to knowledgeable right-leaning media personalities that clearly have no idea what's happening, and don't appreciate the size and scope of what Sessions has been undertaking. The primary focus of Attorney General Sessions is to restore integrity and honor to the Department of Justice. He has been doing an excellent job running a tight ship and keeping details about ongoing investigations confidential. AG Sessions is doing everything to...

No jail for Eric Clanton, the Antifa “ethics†professor who used a metal bike lock to assault seven innocent Trump supporters This video shows a masked Antifa thug using a metal bike lock to smash the head of an innocent Trump supporter at Berkeley, California, in April 2017:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qKCl9NL1CgSome awesomely talented amateur sleuth observers at 4chan later identified the thug based on his partially visible face, his clothing, and several other things.Any one of these things by itself is pretty meaningless. But taken together, it is extremely likely that they identified the correct person. For specific details, see here, here, here, here, here,...

Conservatives Paul Joseph Watson and Candace Owens post mugshots of Antifa members to prove that liberal CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin is wrong about their skin color After President Trump recently warned about possible violence from Antifa members, CNN senior legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin said:“LetÂ’s be clear also about whatÂ’s going on here. The theme here is, ‘IÂ’m Donald Trump and IÂ’ll protect you from the scary black people.'â€â€œAntifa is widely perceived as an African-American organization, and this is just part of the same story of LeBron James and Don Lemon and Maxine Waters and the NFL players and the UCLA...

A recent report by a Pennsylvania grand jury has put a scandal – the one about the Catholic priests guilty of sex abuse – back in the news again. Since this particular investigation and report deals with a period that goes back seventy years, there isn’t much actual “news” in it, but it includes shocking numbers and heartbreaking stories, so it has understandably gained national attention. This Pennsylvania grand jury cast a wide net to capture the entire picture, or at least, as much of the picture of an international organization and an international problem as a state judiciary can...
