If you’re in China and in need of a “baby-food bible,” or a “bible” on autoimmune disease, no problem. If you’re in need of God’s word … tough luck. China escalated its war on Christians by removing access to bibles in online stores, CNN reports today, as China’s leaders try claiming that they respect religious belief — as long as it comes under state control: The Bible appears to have been removed from online marketplaces in China, as Beijing clamps down on how its citizens practice religion.China has always controlled sales of the Bible, only allowing it to be...

A fault in an undersea cable has crippled many of Pakistan's internet and mobile phone links overseas. The fault occurred late on Monday and systems are still down. One internet official said it could take two weeks to repair. The fault has been traced to a point in the Arabian Sea 35km (21 miles) south of Karachi and technicians from Dubai are travelling to make repairs. Pakistan has more than 10 million internet users. Disruption could also occur in India, the United Arab Emirates, Djibouti and Oman, which are also linked by the cable, Pakistani telecommunications officials said. Ground to...

If you've got the heart, head and determination, a career in law enforcement could be for you. And thanks to the changing times, gender is no longer an excluding issue. Look around Solano County these days and you'll see female police officers everywhere from patrolling the streets to commanding an agency. The only real problem, insiders say, is the huge gender disparity at each agency. Which could be why a huge recruitment of women is under way across the state. On Saturday, a "Women in Policing" forum staffed by numerous agencies - including the Vacaville and Fairfield police departments and...

A new generation of moms rocks convention and is defining for themselves what it means to be a mother and an adult human.(WOMENSENEWS)--This Mother's Day, women across the United States will be celebrating the joys of motherhood: rock music, tattoos, skateboarding, belly dancing--and shattering stereotypes. Fed up with definitions of motherhood that they find oppressive and restrictive, a growing number of U.S. moms are kick-boxing and slam-dancing their way toward a new interpretation. They're wearing fishnet stockings and platform heels to the playground. They're taking up scuba diving and bringing their kids in tow.But it's not just about the latest...
