  • White House privately skeptical of North Korea's promise to freeze nuclear testing

Much of the domestic press here in Japan is very, very skeptical about this overture, and statements by Kim and the ruling Korean Workers Party. Even the CONSERVATIVE daily news SANKEI SHIMBUN today had some good quotes about how this could be no concession at all, North just playing a shell and delay game, offering to close nuke sites that have been essentially destroyed already through too many underground tests, etc. etc. etc.

Assurance clears the way for a summit meeting between Kim Jong Un and President Donald Trump North Korea has told the U.S. that Kim Jong Un is prepared to discuss the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, clearing the way for a summit meeting between the North Korean leader and President Donald Trump, according to U.S. officials. U.S. officials didn’t say when and how that assurance was delivered, but U.S. and North Korean officials have been in communication. “The U.S. has confirmed that Kim Jong Un is willing to discuss the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula,” a Trump administration official said...

Are we about to be nuked? Is it possible that Kim Jong Un just sent his family and various favored people out of the country to China on that heavily armored train? Could he do a first strike nuke attack, possibly supplemented with Chinese nukes sent back on the train? We could be counted on to respond, pretty much vaporizing North Korea. Could the Chinese space station that is coming down be a smokescreen to explain why there is a bunch of stuff entering our atmosphere and heading to earth? What do you all think?

On Wednesday Russian leader Vladimir Putin threatened the West with unstoppable intercontinental nuclear missiles. Putin announced that Russia had developed an intercontinental nuclear missile that can’t be stopped or shot down by any country’s defence system The Russian leader said the rocket travels 20 times the speed of sound and has unlimited range. Now we know where Putin gained the technology to build the missiles. –Hillary Clinton. Without a coherent vision of the future or an attractive model for others to imitate, without any soft power to speak of, without an economic model that can ensure sustainable growth or keep people out of poverty, the missile-rattling is a terrifying but hollow sound. In the context of a mock election with a predetermined result, Russia's growing military might means better protection for an unaccountable, oppressive regime that doesn't have to keep any of the promises it makes. It's muscle without hope or substance. Putin's fascination with the new toys is understandable. This part of the speech carried a...

Iran unveiled a series of new homemade nuclear-capable ballistic missiles during military parades held over the weekend, a move that experts view as a bid to bolster the hardline ruling regime as dissidents continue efforts to stir protest. On the heels of an encounter between an Iranian drone and Israeli forces, Iranian leaders showcased their ballistic missile capabilities, which includes a nuclear-capable medium-range missile that appears to share similarities with North Korean technology, according to experts. The nuclear-capable missile can strike Israel even when fired from Iranian territory, raising concerns about an impending conflict between Tehran and the Jewish state that...

Given that Europe gets ever closer to Islamic takeover, is it wise for the United States to have nuclear weapons in Europe? I would never want to see our own nukes pointed back st us. It also seems to me that the more Western Europe becomes Islamicized, the less desirable a target it becomes. The socialists are ruining Europe after all.

Let us be clear on what the “insurance policy” was. The insurance policy was, in totality, the entire fraudulent Russian Conspiracy Narrative; and all of the accompanying –and subsequent– FBI and DOJ collaborative actions that were taken, under the auspices of an FBI counterintelligence operation, in order to generate an entirely false premise. The goal of using the “insurance policy” was to destroy, and possibly impeach, President Trump.

Have you noticed a recurring answer coming out in interviews with politicians and Trump administration members lately when the subject of North Korea comes up? Over and over the answer to the seriousness of threats from North Korea is, “We’re running out of time.” I’ve heard that answer several times just this weekend.Unless you’ve been in a medically induced coma the past year or so, it is clear that the crazy-like-a-fox brutal dictator, Kim Jong-un, in North Korea has a nuclear war with America on his to-do list. After a brief hiatus, another advanced ballistic missile test was launched...

Of all weapons in the U.S. nuclear arsenal, the ICBM is the one most likely to cause accidental nuclear war, arms-control specialists say. It is for this reason that a growing number of former defense officials, scholars of military strategy and some members of Congress have begun calling for the elimination of ICBMs.

Russia has finally confirmed that it measured increased levels of radioactive activity in the Urals, some weeks after French officials said it may have been due to an "accident" at a Russian or Kazakh nuclear facility. The state had, in fact, measured increased levels of the Ruthenium-106 isotope in the Southern Urals. But there was nothing to be worried about, said the head of the Russian Metereological Service, Maxim Yakovenko. Yes, the levels might have been several hundred times background levels, but they were still safe for the general public. In any case, in Romania, the figures were at least...
  • What General Hyten really said (re: refusing Trump nuke order)

Considerable uproar was generated this past weekend by legacy media reports that the commander of U.S. strategic forces would "resist 'illegal' nuke order from Trump," as CBS, in a headline echoed by most media sources, put it. In fact, nothing of the sort occurred. The story, like many that have appeared since November 8, 2016, is an almost complete fabrication, intended to embarrass President Trump and cause turmoil within the federal government and among Trump's own supporters. What actually happened is this: USAF general John E. Hyten, the chief of Strategic Command (StratCom), which is the trans-service military command that...

Congressional lawmakers raised concerns about President Donald Trump's ability to use nuclear weapons during a hearing Capitol Hill Tuesday amid bipartisan anxiety over launch process procedures and indications that the administration has considered the option of a first strike on North Korea. Members of the Senate foreign affairs committee called into question a decades-old presidential authority to deploy nuclear weapons in what was the first congressional hearing on nuclear authorization in decades. "We are concerned that the President of the United States is so unstable, is so volatile, has a decision-making process that is so quixotic that he might order...

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — In a striking shift of tone, President Donald Trump abandoned his aggressive rhetoric toward North Korea on Tuesday, signaling a willingness to negotiate as he urged Pyongyang to “come to the table” and “make a deal.” Trump, in his first day on the Korean peninsula, again pushed Pyongyang to abandon its nuclear weapons program, but sounded an optimistic note, saying confidently, if vaguely, “ultimately, it’ll all work out.” And while he said the United States would use military force if needed, he expressed his strongest inclination yet to deal with rising tensions with Pyongyang through...

President Donald Trump has an action-packed trip to Asia slated to begin Sunday, starting in Japan before heading to South Korea and China, then Vietnam and the Philippines. Ahead of this international tour, two U.S. strategic B-1B bombers conducted drills over South Korea. North Korea was quick to condemn that action. News of the drills was first reported by North Korean state news agency KCNA on Friday, which said the exercises involving South Korean and Japanese fighter jets were a “surprise nuclear strike drill”. “The reality clearly shows that the gangster-like U.S. imperialists are the very one who is aggravating...
