Passengers were thrown to the roof of a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner during a sudden altitude loss that resulted in at least 50 people being injured Monday on a LATAM Airlines flight. The plane experienced a technical issue that caused "strong movement" on the flight from Sydney, Australia, to Auckland, New Zealand, according to The New Zealand Herald. Of the approximately 50 people who were injured, a dozen were transported to local hospitals and one person was left in serious condition. The injuries included broken bones and head and neck injuries, per passenger Brian Jokat. Jokat said the plane "just dropped"...

Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 and its passengers are entombed in an ocean trench after its twisted pilot ditched the plane as part of a mass-murder-suicide plot, a British aviation expert claims. British pilot Simon Hardy was part of the official search for the Boeing 777, which disappeared over the South China Sea on March 8, 2014, and was never found. In 2015, he was brought on board by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau to trace the missing plane, which disappeared 39 minutes after it left Kuala Lumpur for Beijing with 239 passengers and crew members on board. Hardy used the...

Saindy Pyles thought she was going to die with her baby son, Liam, clutched to her chest as she flew home to Wichita from Miami after photographing a wedding. Midway through the flight Pyles said smoke filled the cabin after she saw sparks and fire burst from a bag in the seat directly behind her. "Honestly, I thought we were going to die," she said. "I looked and all I saw was flashes, just like flashes. I'm like, 'Oh my God, like, what is that?' And [the owner of the bag] is like, 'I don't know. I don't know.'" "Then...

Wisk Aero, a startup founded in 2019 and backed by Boeing, has debuted its sixth generation remote-piloted “air taxi,” a yellow all-electric four-seat aircraft that can fly without a human pilot. The company touts its plug-in planes as the answer to city traffic congestion. The Boeing-backed company is hoping to get approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to carry passengers as part of a commercial air taxi service, according to a report by the Verge.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams backtracked on Thursday, denying that his administration would be "reassessing" the right to shelter for asylum seekers amid an influx of 11,000 migrants since May. On Wednesday, Adams told reporters that New York City’s shelter system was at its "breaking point," adding that the "city’s prior practices, which never contemplated the busing of thousands of people into New York City, must be reassessed." The remark sparked reports suggesting he was considering the 1981 "right to shelter" agreement guaranteeing anyone without a place to sleep a bed in New York City.

Elon Musk drew wrath this week for a nine-minute, 35-mile flight from San Jose to San Francisco — but it didn’t have to be this way. The trip was tracked and exposed by @ElonJet, a Twitter account run by Jack Sweeney, a 20-year-old IT major at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. “If he let me fly with him on his jet, record it and talk about it — and maybe not even pay me the $50,000 [previously asked for] — I would take it down,” Sweeney said of Musk. “That is still up for discussion.” Sweeney’s high-profile hobby...

Ukraine may be given Western fighter jets and pilot training to help its forces fight Russia, according to a senior American military figure. Moscow has air superiority over the Ukrainian air force's assortment of Soviet-era aircraft like MiG-29s and other Cold War-era planes. But the U.S. Air Force chief of staff, General Charles Q. Brown Jr., acknowledged that the U.S. and its allies were considering providing Ukraine with new planes. Such a move would step up Western involvement in the war and mark a departure from when the Biden administration ruled out a deal in which Poland's MiG fighters were...

It’s been a half-century since airlines started hiring women and people of color to fly passenger planes, allowing a handful of pioneering pilots into the flight deck. In the decades since, commercial aviation has grown exponentially, democratizing travel and rewiring how Americans live, work and play. But one part of the industry has remained mostly the same. Piloting is stubbornly monolithic: About 95 percent of airline pilots in the U.S. today are male. Nearly as many are white. Zakiya Percy is one of a small and growing number of people trying to change that. Ms. Percy, 29, used to dream...

The radical left on Monday flipped out after a federal judge in Florida struck down the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) mask mandate for airplanes and other public transportation. The ruling came less than a week after the CDC extended the mandate for two weeks to further study the ramifications of the coronavirus. “Because our system does not permit agencies to act unlawfully even in pursuit of desirable ends, the court declares unlawful and vacates the mask mandate,” the Trump-appointed judge wrote.

The White House has only days to decide if it will renew the mask mandate on public transportation systems as COVID-19 cases once again show signs of rising. The requirement to wear a mask on airplanes, in airports and on buses and trains has been in place for 14 months under the Biden administration, including several extensions, but is finally set to expire Monday.

"The View" co-host Sunny Hostin declared her love for mask mandates Tuesday as she denounced the scheduled lifting of the federal requirement for travelers to wear masks on airplanes, trains and in transit hubs later this month. "I want the masks!" Hostin exclaimed during a segment focused on the state of the coronavirus pandemic, complaining that she didn't want the mandate to end because she didn't want to be on an airplane with other people breathing on her "with their COVID breath." Co-host Joy Behar began the segment by noting that the city of Philadelphia had reinstated its indoor mask...

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) said on Sunday that she doesn’t want the United States to rule out an arrangement with Poland to send fighter jets to Ukraine amid Russia's invasion. During an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union,” host Dana Bash asked Klobuchar if it was a mistake to not send fighter jets to Poland. Klobuchar referred to remarks from National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, who said the aircraft could become a target for Russian forces.

This article is prefaced with a few facts. The U.S. Helicopter Safety Team (USHST) reported 122 helicopter accidents, with 51 fatalities, in 2019. There were 92 accidents and 35 fatalities in the first year of COVID dystopia (2020) when aircraft were grounded for months. In fact there was a 107-day period in 2020 with no fatal helicopter accidents, which is unusual compared to other years. Further, small, private aircraft crash relatively-frequently, even before the COVID-19/vaccine era. But the difference since 2021 – more people are dying in said crashes. USHST data measure fatal accidents per 100,000 flight hours every month....
