I found this very strange behavior, even for Facebook: Some time ago, maybe a week I put up an article about Selena Gomez. Something I read 'a new giveaway scam making rounds on social media is using fake deep fake videos and ads of popstar Selena Gomez to promote free Le Creuset cookware sets. The convincing sponsored posts claim Selena is generously giving away thousands of dollars worth of Le Creuset products to fans absolutely free. However, the entire promotion is an elaborate ruse aimed at stealing users’ money through concealed subscription fees'.

New research released by Indeed, a popular job posting platform, shows that the number of postings requiring college degrees — or any education requirement at all — is dwindling. Indeed found 52 percent of postings on its site had no formal education requirement as of January 2024, up 4 percent from 2019. I have a comparison graph of various nations "new cases" of COVID over time I'd like to post on one of Doughty One's update thread. It's just a file on my computer, so it doesn't have a URL. You can't copy and paste images into FR, as far as I know. Can someone explain to me how to do this?

Where is the software enhancement for posting comments? I had a computer go down, and my backup does not have that enhancement installed.

My 12th Freeper birthday just passed and I missed it (again). Anywho, I hadn't looked at my post count in a long time, and I'm surprised at my posting frequency. It works out to about 14.5 posts per day. Wow.

Is there a list of sites that we are not supposed to post from on FR? Usually if I try to post something from a restricted source, it prevents me from doing so immediately. I just posted something from USA Today that was removed. Is USA one of those sources that we may not post from? It was a story on trucking. Also, we used to get something from the mod citing our offense. That doesn't seem to happen any longer. Thanks

About 10 minutes ago I posted what I thought was an interesting article about Hillary voters who have switched over to Trump. It got pulled almost immediately. What went wrong? The excerpt didn't seem overly long. Is Yahoo now banned on FR? I'd sure like to know what I did wrong so as not to make the same error again.

Yes, I am logged in. Normally on iPad I can finger scroll up the writing box to see what I am writing as I write it. Now, for the past two days I cannot see what I am writing. I don't believe this is an FR issue, as it is happening on text conversations with otherse. As with Free Republic, I have to click the button to lower the keyboardscreeni order to see what I am writing. Editing is impossible. Anyone have any help?

I don't know if this has impacted anybody else, but in recent weeks, I've noticed that HTML special characters are not rendering properly in HTML posts. For example, the character “ is rendering as “, the character ” is rendering as ”, and so on. A screenshot of a typical thread is here: Needless to say, that is really irritating. There is a workaround for this: replace these special characters with their corresponding HTML codes. Like many others here, I don't have cable. So I rely on FR for unfiltered breaking news. And there where quite a few good and informative threads last night about the Paris attacks. Thanks to all the posters for that! Unfortunately, those threads were also peppered with distracting and silly attempts at humor. So here's my humble request. When the news is breaking - and serious - can we stay on-topic and avoid posting distractions?

When I compose a comment here or on Facebook, the spelling check function underlines every single word in red. Problem began about 1 week ago and occurs only when I am using Opera. I went to the Opera settings, but I could not find a way to correct this. Sorry, I am not tech savvy, and I would appreciate advice from someone who is.

Can't seem to post a pic on FR even using the 2015 HTML guidelines found in the 2015 SANDBOX section.Anyone know why??The symbol of the broken image below is that of the FR logo from that section.Or is the the browser I cam using???
