Doug Thompson, who many of us old-timers remember from the Clinton years, is in critical condition after hitting a cow while Doug was riding his motorcycle. Doug was a player in the anti-Clinton campaign with his website Capital Hill Blue. CHB was frequently cited on FreeRepublic during those years. He has since become a big broken-glass Democrat and retired to Floyd County to pursue photography.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl was investigating the man who allegedly planned the Sept. 11 airplane hijackings and attacks on New York and Washington when he was kidnapped and murdered in Pakistan, according to two former Central Intelligence Agency officials. Bob Baer, a former case officer in the agency's Directorate of Operations, said he provided Pearl with unpublished information about Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, who has since been accused by American officials of being one of the masterminds of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and a top aide to Osama bin Laden. Mohammed is...

A disgruntled former CIA operative hoping to hurt President Bush was likely Newsweek's source on the fake Quran-in-the-toilet story, says geopolitical expert Jack Wheeler, and his action now means journalists will no longer trust the ex-Langley agents forced out by chief Porter Goss. In a column on his intelligence website, To the Point, Wheeler writes of this "silver lining" to the Newsweek story penned by reporter Michael Isikoff.

Dr. Jack Wheeler, whose death-defying adventures span the globe and whose achievements have inspired wide-ranging acclaim, is one geopolitical expert who doesn't mince words. Wheeler's latest arrows are aimed at those he calls the "anti-Bush lefties" who populate the CIA. Referring to the people know as "Rogue Weasels" at Langley, CIA headquarters, Wheeler writes about the recent story of missing high-explosives in Iraq: "They cooked up this entire phony 'tons of missing explosives' scandal, sweet-talked the head of the U.N.'s nuclear inspection agency, Mohammed ElBaradei, to carry their water and leak it to CBS – which drooled at the opportunity...
