The Minnesota DFL Party on Wednesday asked the Minneapolis Police Department to investigate a domestic abuse claim against U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison, after both a city attorney and a county prosecutor declined to review a report the party commissioned that did not substantiate the allegation. Charlene Briner, a senior adviser for the party, told the Star Tribune on Wednesday that the DFL sent its investigative report to the Minneapolis Police Department “and asked that they investigate the claims described in the report to determine whether any criminal conduct occurred.” The party asked the Lockridge Grindal Nauen law firm in August...

Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom has agreed to review claims of abuse made by the ex-girlfriend of Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison, but only if a law enforcement agency completes an investigation first, according to a letter from the county attorney's office. That letter indicated Karen Monahan's allegations that Ellison once physically abused her could not be substantiated was made public. The DFL said Monday they would ask the City of Minneapolis Attorney's Office for review....

Karin Housley, the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate, has officially requested an investigation into the allegations of domestic abuse against Rep. Keith Ellison. Ellison, a Democrat running for attorney general in Minnesota, has been accused by his former girlfriend of physical and emotional abuse throughout the time they dated. Karen Monahan alleged Ellison once dragged her off a bed while shouting profanities and sent multiple abusive text messages. Ellison has vehemently denied the accusations and asked the House Ethics Committee to launch a probe into the allegations. Minnesota’s Democratic Party has also commissioned an investigation. But Housley, the GOP nominee...

Merriam Webster defines “religion” as “a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices.” Islam certainly qualifies as a religion by that definition. Religions profess to connect human beings to the divine. Islam professes to do that. At the same time, however, it is also a political system that is authoritarian, supremacist, discriminatory, expansionist, violent, and aggressive. In reality, Islamic law’s political aspects contradict Constitutional principles and American freedoms in numerous particulars, including its denial of the freedom of speech, the institutionalized discrimination against women, non-Muslims, and other groups, its death penalty for apostasy from Islam and...

A strict Islamic district in Indonesia has banned men and women from having dinner together unless they are married or related to make women be 'more obedient' and 'well behaved'. The deeply Islamic Aceh province, which operates under Sharia Law, announced today it would stop unmarried couples eating together in public, an official said. Aceh is the only region in the world's most heavily populated Muslim majority country that imposes Islamic law and has come under fire in the past for putting moral restrictions on women. It also attracted global condemnation for publicly whipping people found guilty of a range...

Two Malaysian Muslim women convicted under Islamic laws of attempting to have sex were caned Monday in a rare public whipping that was slammed by lawmakers and rights activists as a form of torture. Lawyers and activists said the women, aged 22 and 32, were seated on stools facing the judges and given six strokes from a light rattan cane on their backs by female prison officers. More than 100 people witnessed the caning in a Shariah courtroom in northeast Terengganu state, they said. Muslim Lawyers' Association deputy president Abdul Rahim Sinwan said unlike caning under civil laws, the punishment...

Pressure on Keith Ellison to drop out of the race for Attorney General of Minnesota is growing. National and state party leaders are hedging their bets, mostly either refusing to comment or releasing anodyne statements. But the National Organization of Women has called on Ellison to step down. The best sign of mounting pressure is this: CBS has the story on the most recent domestic abuse allegation against Ellison: “Woman accusing Rep. Keith Ellison of abuse speaks out.” On Thursday, [Karen] Monahan, 44, spoke on camera for the first time about an incident she said happened nearly two years ago....

About a week ago, authorities responded to a report of children living in New Mexico in filthy conditions, starving, and exposed to physical dangers. What authorities found was even more disturbing: an “extremist Muslim” compound where children were being tortured, brainwashed and trained to kill teachers, law enforcement and others with whom the Islamists didn't agree. On Monday, Judge Sarah Backus, an elected Democrat, released the five adult men and women responsible for running this operation, on bail. She explained that although she was concerned by “troubling facts” and that these people were "living in a very unconventional way,” prosecutors did...

Christine Hallquist, the country’s first major party transgender candidate as the newly minted Democratic nominee for the governorship of Vermont, once tweeted an insinuation that “radicalized Christians” are a problem that Americans currently “tolerate.” “And we worry about sharia law!!” Hallquist tweeted in June 2017 along with a link to an article from “LGBTQ Nation” about a girl disqualified from a soccer team because she looked like a boy. “Radicalized Christians are a part of the American landscape, and we tolerate it.”

The open extremists operating in the Democratic Party's midst. It turns out the man arrested for running a Muslim terrorist training compound in rural New Mexico is the son of an influential Democrat-connected jihadist imam who was close to the Blind Sheikh who orchestrated the bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993 that left six people dead. Siraj Ibn Wahhaj Jr., who is 39 or 40, of Clayton County, Ga., was arrested after authorities found 11 hungry, filthy children living in squalid conditions in a remote part of New Mexico. Wahhaj, who has been charged with felony child abuse,...

**SNIP** “One night I confronted him very calm about a lie he had just told me straight to my face. What happened next was a rage that I had never witnessed to that magnitude. He was becoming a person I had never seen before. The next morning, he came into the room I was sleeping in. I was laying across the bed with my headphones on, listening to podcast on my phone. He said he was about to leave town for the weekend and told me to take the trash out. Given the explosive outrage that occurred the night before,...

Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) is expected to make a last-minute entry into the race for Minnesota attorney general on Tuesday, according to two people familiar with his plans. “I will make a decision tomorrow because it’s the filling deadline,” Ellison said, not disputing that he is likely to enter the election. Ellison has been in Congress since 2007, and served as deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee since last year, as a leader of the Bernie Sanders wing of the party. But he’s been chafing for months at both roles: being in the minority in Congress and being subsumed...

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison, the first Muslim elected to Congress, has filed papers to run for Minnesota attorney general. Ellison, also the deputy chairman of the Democratic National Committee, filed Tuesday just hours ahead of a deadline. Ellison will keep his post with the national party. Ellison is in his sixth term representing a reliably Democratic Minneapolis-area seat. But he was lured into Minnesota's attorney general race after the incumbent, Lori Swanson, jumped into the governor's race on Monday. Ellison says it was attorneys general who led the fight against President Donald Trump's ban on travelers...

The mainstream press is ignoring a report from Big League Politics contributor Laura Loomer about Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), who is running for Minnesota Attorney General without a law license. “As your next attorney general, I will be a people’s lawyer who will hold those in power accountable when they step on your rights — whether that’s Monsanto telling you how to raise your crops, Navient cheating student loan borrowers out of more money, or the federal government infringing upon health care, a woman’s right to choose, or the human and civil rights of all,” Ellison wrote in The Minneapolis...

The Republican Jewish Coalition is calling for the resignation of seven Democratic members of Congress whom it claims are "connected" to controversial Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan. The group describes him as a "known anti-Semite." Farrakhan has routinely spoke disparagingly about Jews over the years, as well as white people, in general. He was thrust into the mainstream spotlight again this week after excerpts from a speech he gave last week on the Nation of Islam's Saviour's Day surfaced online. During the speech, he once again described Jewish people -- who he says "are my enemy" -- in a...

A video posted online Monday shows a Democratic Party leader wearing a T-shirt calling for an end to U.S. borders while participating in a local May Day parade in Minnesota last Friday. Democratic National Committee deputy chair Keith Ellison, D-Minn., wore a black shirt that read, "Yo no creo en fronteras." In English, that sentence translates to, "I don't believe in borders." Ellison, a progressive Democrat, said in March he supports a new type of welfare proposal that would have the government pay people a basic salary if technological advancements put them out of work. "I personally do think that...
