In August, a photo surfaced of a boy in an Afro wig with makeup-darkened skin standing in for 11-year-old African-American actor Keith L. Williams on the Vancouver set of “Good Boys,” a comedy about three sixth-graders who ditch school and wind up on a road trip. The image sparked online outrage, and Seth Rogen, one of the film’s producers, quickly apologized, declaring that on all future projects his team would “take every precaution to make sure something similar does not take place again.” It turned out that the boy in the makeup, reportedly the son of a stuntman, was African-American...

We have an illegal alien horde approaching our southern border. No, we have multiple hordes approaching the border. With local police in Mexico unable to stop them, the closest caravan is 1,000 miles away from the border. The Trump administration has decided to deploy thousands of troops in hopes of preventing scores of illegal aliens from flooding into the country. It’s been slammed as a 2018 election ploy. For Secretary of Defense James Mattis, this isn’t a stunt. Yesterday, he shot down a reporter who made that insinuation during a presser with South Korea’s defense minister (via Fox News):Watch the latest video...

Travis Pastrana honored legendary daredevil Evel Knievel Sunday night in attempting three of Knievel’s most dangerous jumps in a row on Evel Live. Pastrana wasn’t just setting out to complete the stunts, however, but to break Knievel’s records. Pastrana’s epic act started with the 50 Car Jump, followed by the Wembley Bus Jump. It ended with the infamous Caesars Palace Fountain Jump — a stunt that almost killed Knievel 50 years ago. “This is the most iconic jump in stunt lore,” Pastrana said. “In the history of stunts, this is the one. It’s the one because Evel never landed it.”

How ‘legit’ was this airborne wedding? by Fr Raymond de Souza posted Thursday, 1 Feb 2018 Newlyweds Carlos Ciuffardi Elorriaga and Paula Podes on the papal flight (CNS) The wedding on a plane raises some awkward questionsThere was a comical moment after the Chilean marriage conducted by the Vicar of Christ in the air. Papal spokesman Greg Burke was emphatic: “It was totally legit.”“Totally legit” is extra-canonical language meaning that impromptu is not invalid, as it usually would be in regard to a wedding on the fly. But there was confusion aplenty about the wedding of two flight attendants, and...

Fr Ray Blake's Blog Friday, January 19, 2018 Imagine: Pastoral Opportunities "If he were a priest in my diocese I would ensure he was suspended, and at his age retired from a public liturgical or pastoral function", was the reaction of a certain Vicar General to the Pope's 'marriage' of the Chilean couple after I placed on social media, "Next Thursday 3-4pm, in Waitrose gin aisle, I shall marry anyone who turns up, everyone welcome". I wasn't serious but the Vicar General was, he more or less followed Ed Peter's line that the marriage was very likely invalid, pastorally...

Thoughts on a mid-air marriage January 18, 2018 Show of hands! Who wants to rain all over the sentimental parade lining up behind (what is being presented as) the pope’s facilitation of married love? Anyone? Anyone?I thought not. Oh well.Readers of this blog know that I am no fan of canonical form for marriage (cc. 1108, 1117)—a cure that has far outlived the malady (clandestine marriage) it was designed to treat—but canonical form is still law for Catholics and that law goes to the validity of Catholic marriage. Based on the reports offered here and here, I cannot tell whether the ‘wedding’...

French wingsuit flyers recently completed an unbelievable stunt following a B.A.S.E. jump from the top of the Jungfrau mountain in Switzerland. Fred Fugen and Vince Reffet, known as the Soul Flyers, caught up with and flew into a plane in mid-air. As part of their project A Door in the Sky, which they had spent several months training for by completing more than 100 test flights in Empuriabrava in Spain, the duo B.A.S.E jumped from the top of the Jungfrau, one of Europe’s highest mountains, and flew into a Pilatus Porter light aircraft in mid-air. Now that's a different way...

Father of Muslim bomb hoax clockster was Qur’an’s defense attorney against Terry Jones in mock trial ByPAMELA GELLER on September 17, 2015. When I first posted this story, I said it smelled fishy. Now it positively stinks. Does this look like a clock to you? And now the plot thickens. In what has become one of the most egregious of the faked hate narratives, the bomb hoax clockster has a family with a history of supremacist stunts. “One of the earliest instances of the standout citizen making national news was in 2011, when he sensationally stood up to an anti-Islamic...

While Gaga did indeed do the leap without a stunt double's help, this part of the show was performed in advance. After it aired, the cameras cut to Gaga somersaulting as she soared swiftly through the air to a podium to continue the show. For those inside the arena the show began with Gaga hanging from her guide wires, in the dark. Footage shot from fans shows a motionless Gaga suspended from the wires. Suddenly a spotlight shines on her, and she starts her descent. Intel which was behind the drones used in the pre-recorded feat blamed the need to...

Lusby, Maryland (CNN) -- A conservative activist known for making undercover videos plotted to embarrass a CNN correspondent by recording a meeting on hidden cameras aboard a floating "palace of pleasure" and making sexually suggestive comments, e-mails and a planning document show. James O'Keefe, best known for hitting the community organizing group ACORN with an undercover video sting, hoped to get CNN Investigative Correspondent Abbie Boudreau onto a boat filled with sexually explicit props and then record the session, those documents show. The plan apparently was thwarted after Boudreau was warned minutes before it was supposed to happen. "I never...

Filmed over the period of a few months in and around Edinburgh by Dave Sowerby, this video of Inspired Bicycles team rider Danny MacAskill (more info at www.dannymacaskill.com)features probably the best collection of street/street trials riding ever seen. There's some huge riding, but also some of the most technically difficult and imaginativelines you will ever see. Without a doubt, this video pushes the envelope of what is perceived as possible on a trials bike.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z19zFlPah-o

Mar. 2 (ABC7) — The governor clearly wants a special legislative session to consider three major government reform ideas. A one-man lobbying campaign is now underway targeting the voters, even as Democratic critics say his reforms won't reform much. The governor stopped in Hayward to push his latest reform agenda, carrying out his promise to take his message to the people. Some are beginning to question his use of staged events to make his point. The governor's Hollywood gimmicks are nothing new, and are most often his own ideas. His newest gimmick rolled out yesterday: a Humvee dubbed "Reform One."...
