<p>OPEKA — Marion County police on Saturday defended their unprecedented raid on a newspaper office and the publisher’s home by pointing to a loophole in federal law that protects journalists from searches and seizures.</p><p>Law enforcement raided the Marion County Record on Friday, seizing computers and reporters’ personal cellphones as part of an investigation into alleged identity theft of a restaurant operator who feuded with the newspaper. Officers also raided the home of publisher Eric Meyer, who lived with his 98-year-old mother, Joan.</p>

David Wittig, Western's chairman, president and chief executive officer, faces four counts of submitting false entries, books, reports or statements to a federally insured bank; one count of conspiracy and one count of money laundering. Three people were shot late Saturday in North Topeka after a man confronted people he thought had committed past thefts of signs promoting the campaign of Republican Presidential incumbent Donald Trump, a Topeka police supervisor said Sunday. Washburn University removed the statues of Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson from their campus saying that they didn't want those statues to be an embarrassment to alummi. On 8/21/2020, they quietly cancelled a black lives matter rally that was to be held in their stadium. Their excuse was coronavirus. They've just announced the rescheduling of the event to 10/02/2020. A Colorado truck driver has been charged with five counts of vehicular homicide nearly two years after a fiery crash that killed five people on the Kansas Turnpike near Bonner Springs. Kenny B. Ford, 58, of Greeley, Colorado, appeared without an attorney Friday morning in Leavenworth County District Court. The misdemeanor charge carries a maximum penalty of one year in jail on each count.
