POLITICO's Ginger Gibson caught up with an elated Newt Gingrich shortly after Sarah Palin's not-quite-but-sorta endorsement on Fox News: "We're thrilled - I just talked to Todd and we're just thrilled," he told POLITICO as he headed into his hotel here for the night. "It's a signal to every conservative that the one conservative vote that's effective is to Newt Gingrich and that's very helpful." Palin's expression of support, Gingrich said, is part of a rush of support he believes will power him to victory on Saturday - and from there, into the candidate who will beat Mitt Romney to...

— Newt Gingrich says he thinks Sarah Palin’s remarks on Fox News that she would vote for him in Saturday’s primary if she lived in South Carolina may just be what puts him over the top. That’s what he told Todd Palin, the former vice presidential nominee’s husband, who outright endorsed him ahead of the New Hampshire primary. I have suddenly noticed my link to DRUDGE takes me to a Vonage sign in page. No matter how I attempt to get to the Drudge site it takes me to the same Vonage page which asks me for my name and password. I do use Vonage but how could that have anyhting to do with a total inability to get to the Drudge site? Even if I type in DRUDGE in the search bar and go to the page of links, no matter which link to Drudge I use I go to the Vonage page. How is this possible...

IAF fighter jets dropped over 20 tons in bombs late Wednesday night on a Hizbullah bunker, possibly the hiding place of the group's leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, in the Bourj al-Barajneh refugee camp in southeast Beirut. It was still unclear who was in the bunker at the time and what their fate was, but IDF sources said the bunker was totally destroyed and that all that was left was a crater. The IDF obtained intelligence information late Wednesday night that Hizbullah leaders possibly including Nasrallah had taken refuge inside the bunker. A wave of aircraft immediately took to the air...

January 2, 2006: The Church of the SubGenius has announced that the end of the world will take place on Wednesday, July 5, 2006. In preparation for the fulfillment of this doomsday prophecy, the Church is requesting that all of its members participate in a bizarre religious ceremony taking place in upstate New York, during the final weekend before the arrival of the apocalypse. Since its inception in 1953, Church founder J.R. "Bob" Dobbs has predicted that a fleet of flying saucers will arrive at the beginning of July to destroy the worldwide Conspiracy against the Church of the SubGenius,...

For God's sake people, what is going on, with this website and in this country?!! We are all falling apart!! The left is getting us all to turn against ourselves and we are letting them do it. For Christ sakes get it together people and stop this nonsense. I too have my doubts about what is going on with Bush but that is because I am falling into the same trap as eveybody else. We are under attack within and many of us are falling into the trap and we must get it together to stop this madness. We are...

Dear Mr. President, I never imagined a day would come when I would disavow a Republican President, but that day is here. With your selection of Harriet Miers today, you have betrayed your word, you have betrayed me and you have betrayed every social conservative who ever worked on your behalf. This was a historic opportunity for you to deliver on your campaign promises and finally give us a nominee in the vein of Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas. Instead you fumbled. We know Michael Luttig, Edith Hollan Jones, or Janice Rogers Brown are reliably conservative. We have no such...

Six months ago, Free Republic was riding high, and I was proud to be a part of it. It was coming off having blown the cover off of Dan Rather’s use of forged memos against the President. The President was well on his way to winning re-election. It was a great time to be a Freeper. However, things have changed. It started with the justifiable removal of ALIPAC. I supported that move by Jim Robinson, but the ugliness directed towards Alberto Gonzales. He was accused of everything under the sun, and Senator Mel Martinez was viciously attacked for speaking Spanish...

First, this is NOT an April Fool's joke. I am leaving Free Republic. Over the past two years, civility and thoughtful discourse has vanished from this site, replaced with demands for ideological conformity that are straight out of Stalinist Russia or China's Great Cultural Revolution, and unrelenting uncivility if said conformance is not forthcoming. This trend began with the California recall election, where certain posters were allowed to flame the living beejezus out of those who didn't wholeheartedly support Tom McClintock, or thought that he wasn't running a campaign capable of winning. It extended into the Keyes campaign last year,...

Are you tired of watching Fox News interview and quote Liberal after Liberal. What happened to Fair and Conservative. When Ruport Murdock testifed before Congress early this year to expand his media companies, the Liberals accused him of NOT being Fair and Balanced. Since then Fox News has taken a turn to the left with their increased coverage of Liberal Democrats. When watching the Britt Hume News show he almost always starts with Democrat news of the day. During news updates through- out the day the lead is a Kerry attack on President Bush or some other Liberal quote. THIS...

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Rocky Oldaker bought a wood box for $2 at a thrift store because it looked interesting. When he opened it, what he found inside was priceless to Linda Bigford: her mother's ashes. "I don't think that is what someone's life should boil down to ... $2 at a thrift store," said Oldaker, who bought the box along with a stuffed animal and a picture frame. When he unscrewed the box bottom at home, Oldaker discovered a plastic bag of ashes and a note identifying them as those of June Peltier of Marion, Mich. Peltier, 77, died...

County sued over court Bible display Alabama case sparks local call for removal By ALLAN TURNERCopyright 2003 Houston Chronicle Citing concern over what she perceives as growing religious fundamentalism, a Houston woman filed suit Monday in federal court against Harris County, demanding it remove a King James Bible from a monument near the Fannin Street entrance of the civil courthouse. The Bible, tattered and waterstained, has occupied the lighted display case since 1995, when an employee of then-state District Judge John Devine's court undertook an effort to refurbish the neglected monument. The 4-foot-tall pedestal was erected in 1956 to honor...
