A person helped keep the man suspected of firing several shots afloat after he fell in the water Sunday morning near the Hampton Yacht Club, according to a news release from Hampton police. Dispatch received a call a little after 4 a.m. Sunday reporting shots fired in the 100 block of Linden Avenue. Officers determined that two men had been arguing inside a home when a single shot was fired. No one was injured and police said the man suspected of firing the gun fled the home. Police found the man in the water at the Hampton Yacht Club, about...

This is the mummified body of a German adventurer who was found dead drifting on his abandoned yacht at the weekend off the coast of southern Philippines. Manfred Fritz Bajorat, 59, was discovered by two fishermen aboard his yacht in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Barobo town in Surigao del Sur. His body was sitting near to the radio telephone as if he was trying one last desperate Mayday call to save himself when he died.

Pulling up to Nikola's restaurant yesterday, you might have expected to see a line of Beemers and Benzes in the parking lot instead of Civics and pickups. Inside, you might have anticipated a passel of power-lunchers swilling martinis and munching on haute cuisine instead of a couple of older women quietly eating lunch. After all, this is the place that publications from the New York Post to the London Telegraph have been describing as "posh," "tony" and "five-star" in the week since the Kerry for President campaign rolled through town July 30.
  • Getting Out The Music Lovers (Country Music Fans For Kerry?)

John Kerry can already wow an audience with ‘Ring of Fire.’ Now a group of industry leaders is trying to convince Southern country music fans to support the senator in November. How does John Kerry plan to capture the hearts and minds of the so-called Nascar Democrats, those relatively conservative, rural Southern whites who tend to vote Republican? There's choosing an appealing running mate, of course. But there are some party insiders who think a liberal Yankee could take another route: country music. The Music Row Democrats (MRD) aim to do just that. Founded earlier this year in Nashville by...
