ST. LOUIS, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- U.S. Vice President Joe Biden denounced Republican candidates Friday for offering "draconian ideas basically on steroids." Biden credited Republicans of the 1860s and 1950s with investing in infrastructure and technology to advance the nation's interests. That's no longer the case, he told a meeting of the Democratic National Committee in St. Louis. "This ain't your father's Republican Party," Biden said. "This is the 'Republican Tea Party.' And as they [voters] focus on that alternative, what they're going to find out is, the choices are pretty stark." The Hill reported the vice president singled out...

Report: Al-Shehri warns against "the greater state of Israel." Al-Qaida is ready to exploit a war "by the Jews against Iran," the Sunni group's second-in-command in Yemen, Saeed al-Shehri, said in an audio message this month, according to the Daily Beast. The mostly Shi'ite nation of Iran is an enemy to Al-Qaida, and al-Shehri predicted that after Israel attacked Iranian nuclear installations, Iran would blame Saudi Arabia - which reports say may let Israel fly through its airspace to attack Iran - and use the opportunity to seize the holy cities of Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia.

Like many Muslim Americans, I had high hopes – now dashed: our brother drinks beer, eats pork and won't fast at RamadanOne wonders why only 20% of Americans believe President Barack Obama is a Muslim, considering the overwhelming evidence conclusively proving his slavish allegiance to Islam and utter disregard for Christianity. After Obama's wishy-washy defence of Muslim Americans' freedom to build a community centre, which includes a mosque, two blocks away from Ground Zero, a poll from the Pew Research Centre reveals that nearly 20% of Americans – up from 11% a year ago – consider him a Muslim, and...

Just when we thought President Obama had reached the ultimate in seizing extravagant power by appointing a Health Care Czar (Donald Berwick) to exercise life-and-death surveillance over Medicare and Medicaid, Congress is now trying to give him a czar with global powers. It would be a czar over worldwide women's issues. Based in the State Department, her statutory title will be "Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women's Issues." Her task will be to assure a "gender integration" perspective in all State Department policies and programs. The breath-taking reach of her powers is openly stated in the bill's first section: "The Ambassador shall...

(BreitbartTV)- On Morning Joe, Norah O’Donnell says that those who oppose the Ground Zero mosque are acting “like the people who attacked America and killed 3,000 people.”

It's a good bet right now that Barack Obama will be a one-term president. The enthusiasm that once shielded this hyphenated American has dissipated. His supporters, although still numerous, have discovered that he lacks Bill Clinton's centrist instincts, and even his charm. The anti-Bush mania that swept the country from 2006-09 finally burned itself out. It's always possible that the Republicans will nominate a dud. That has happened so often that it should even be considered likely. Not since 1980 has there been an outstanding GOP candidate. But at this stage it's too difficult to predict the 2012 nominee, so...

The angle here is that one of the criticisms of Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the man behind the Islamic center, is that he refused to call Hamas a terrorist organiztion. And here's Hamas standing up for the Imam's mosque, in firm agreement with Obama. Hamas, Rauf, and Obama all agree: Build the mosque! In reality, of course, Obama did not "endorse" the Islamic center. Rauf is widely seen as a moderate, and he has condemned terrorism. And here's what Rauf actually said about Hamas: "I'm not a politician. I try to avoid the issues. The issue of terrorism is a...

The shocking actions of Judge Walker in raising specious rationalizations as to why gay marriage is a civil right has put the liberal agenda front and center to the body politic. In his zeal to create rights out of the whole cloth where they never before existed, Judge Walker may have actually set the country on the path to dictatorship. Not only it seems liberals have finally destroyed the concept of marriage as a union between one man and one woman as has been recognized by Law for over 200+ years in this Republic, he has also put the whole...

The Senate’s top Democrat on Monday came out against plans to build a mosque near the site of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, moving away from President Barack Obama on the controversial election-year issue. Locked in a tight race, Nevada Sen. Harry Reid became the highest profile Democrat to respond to Obama, who last week backed the right for the developers to build a mosque near ground zero. Since his comments Friday, the Democratic president and his aides have worked to explain the statement, which drew criticism from Republicans and Democrats alike. “The First Amendment protects freedom of religion,” said...

WASHINGTON -- A White House spokesman said today that politics wasn’t a factor in President Obama’s remarks about building a mosque near the World Trade Center site. Deputy White House press secretary Bill Burton said it was “not politics” but Obama’s feeling that he had the obligation as president to “make sure people are treated equally” under the Constitution. Obama has said that religious freedom allows the mosque to be built, but without commenting on the wisdom of building one two blocks from ground zero. Republicans have pounded him for his comments, making it a prime midterm election issue. Burton...

Somewhere out there, in what Winston Churchill once called “the Great Republic” is the not-too-happy wife of a Republican governor or senator. This poor lass has devoted the last two or three decades of her life to the gruesome indignities of American politics, shaking hands with morons, forfeiting all privacy, wearing a fixed grin, warily eyeing the bouncy blondes on her husband’s campaign staff and trying to retain her girlish figure through the endless parade of bull roasts, picnics, fundraising banquets and state fairs. (“Try the deep-fried Twinkies ma’am?”) She has done this all with one thought in mind. Someday,...

Workers in the federal government now earn, on average, double what private-sector workers make, according to a USA Today study released Aug. 10. "Federal civil servants earned average pay and benefits of $123,049 in 2009 while private workers made $61,051 in total compensation," the paper said. "Public employee unions say the compensation gap reflects the increasingly high level of skill and education required for most federal jobs and the government contracting out lower-paid jobs to the private sector in recent years." The report was based on numbers from the federal Bureau of Economic Analysis. The federal pay and benefits also...

The whistle-blowing site WikiLeaks is hearing from Sarah Palin: Don't do it. The group said it plans to release another 15,000 secret Afghan war files, in a move the Pentagon called "the height of irresponsibility." In a tweets to WikiLeaks this morning, Palin wrote: "w/freedom comes responsibility. Free press protection gives no license to aid enemy; consider our own troops sacrificing for you... Whomever's calling the shots there is unconscionably aiding/abetting the enemy; don't contribute to this. Speak out. Do right." The release would be on top of some 76,000 classified documents WikiLeaks posted on the Web last month, covering...

Democrats who reluctantly slashed a food stamp program to fund a state aid bill may have to do so again to pay for a top priority of first lady Michelle Obama. The House will soon consider an $8 billion child nutrition bill that’s at the center of the first lady’s “Let’s Move” initiative. Before leaving for the summer recess, the Senate passed a smaller version of the legislation that is paid for by trimming the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as food stamps. The proposed cuts would come on top of a 13.6 percent food stamp reduction in the...

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama on Friday forcefully endorsed building a mosque near ground zero, saying the country's founding principles demanded no less. "As a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country," Obama said, weighing in for the first time on a controversy that has riven New York and the nation. "That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances," he said. "This is America, and our...
