Generation X'er relational database consultant. Have a wife who thinks I'm way too into this "political nonsense" but agrees with FReepers in general.

Would love to protest more but with two young kids weekends are sort of out of the question. Evening protests in NYC are easier.

I usually post from New Jersey papers including the Star Ledger (www.nj.com), NJ Gannett papers (www.mycentraljersey.com). Although he's gotten quite cranky, I'm still a fan of Paul Mulshine's column in the Star Ledger.

Topics to flag me on:
New Jersey politics and misc topics
New Jersey/New York City protests

Autism
Catholocism and things Catholic
Kosovo
Generation X threads
Ronald Reagan
Evolution vs. Creationism
Ireland and things Irish

FReep mail me if you need a real email address.

On the front lines of modern day conservatism!

The history behind the tagline "If I lead, follow me; If I pause, push me; If I retreat, kill me."

It was first used by the Catholic rebels in the Vendée region of France who were responding to the anti-Catholic French Revolution that was shutting down churches and persecuting clerics.  Vendée Catholics during the French Revolution

Later, in the 1920's, it became one of the slogans of the Christeros, Catholic martyrs in Mexico who fought anti-Catholic persecution from the US backed Mexican government. THE CRISTEROS CATHOLIC SOLDIERS OF CHRIST

Most recently, the former President of Mexico, Vicente Fox, used it as a campaign slogan in 2000 when he was running against the entrenched PRI control of the Mexican government.

I try to live by it myself.
