I am a Marine Corps veteren from 1988 to 1994.

I served in Desert Shield/Desert Storm in the Saudi Arabian Port of Al-Jubail from August 18, 1990 to April 1991.

I was with Electronics Maintenance Company, 1st Maintenance Battalion, 1st FSSG from Camp Pendleton, CA. When I originally got there, the unit was BSSG-7 but I don't remember all of those details. After a couple of months, the units arriving from Camp LeJeune NC took over over all command of our logistics.

I separated from the USMC in September 1994, after my second son was born.

I worked for a year in Bend, OR at Western Radio Services as a radio technician, which is what I did in the Marines. After I got laid off, I found better paying employment in the Portland area.

I currently work as an electronics technician for Credence Systems Corp. in Hillsboro making automated test equipment.

After the attacks on Sept. 11, I decided to join the Oregon National Guard. I kept my rank as an E5 Sergeant and volunteered for the commo platoon of HHC 1-162 infantry in Forest Grove. Since I didn't get any infantry experience in the USMC, I look forward to learning military experience in a line unit.

I have been married since 1989 to my high school sweetheart, Janice. We have three wonderful kids: Kevin (b. 1991), Derek (b. 1994), and Elisabeth (b. 2001)

----------Update 15 September 2004----------

I was deployed in February 2003 with my National Guard unit to Kuwait and Iraq. We spent two months in Ft. Carson, CO training up for our missions.

I spent most of my time in Kuwait, but we spent 3 months in Iraq doing security for the highway about 20 miles south of Baghdad.

I think that Iraq is a beautiful country and that it can be a great example and the jewell of the Middle East.

I returned to my family in April, 2004.
