Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges blasted the “jackass remarks” made by the head of the city’s police union on Tuesday, while Police Chief Janeé Harteau issued a more measured response in the wake of four Minneapolis police officers who walked off an off-duty job at a Minnesota Lynx game Saturday.
The officers quit the job before the game over the decision by players to criticize racial profiling and wear pregame warm up jerseys, that said “Black Lives Matter,” but also included the Dallas Police logo.
Minneapolis Police Federation President Bob Kroll said in an interview with the Star Tribune on Monday that he “commended” the officers for leaving their post and predicted other officers would do the same.
He also said only four officers worked the Saturday game because the Lynx are a “pathetic draw.”
In a statement on her Facebook page, Mayor Hodges wrote, “Bob Kroll’s remarks about the Lynx are jackass remarks.”
“Let me be clear: labor leadership inherently does not speak on behalf of management. Bob Kroll sure as hell doesn’t speak for me about the Lynx or about anything else.”

The idiots just don’t get it. The officers walked off the “extra” job not just because of the Lynx stupid actions in their pregame news conference and clothing. They also walked off because the actions the idiots took could very easily have created another Dallas. If the Mayor and his staff had taken the time to try using their pea brain capacity, they would have thought long enough to realize the cops murdered at Dallas were not the ones that were harming blacks. They were there to protect their rights to get their message across. Now you put a few guards in a stadium where the public is going to get a high adrenaline rush, is getting anti-cop demonstrations due to the public awareness of the problem, and how many of those security guards, cops or not, may get a set of keys in the head at the least. Inciting a possible attack on them was. without a doubt, in the works. The mayor was an idiot. He should have told the team and their owners they made a huge mistake doing this as it could have caused a riot and got some more innocent people killed. Idiots!!!!.

I’d like to see cops have a national strike for a few days. You know....use a few sick days. I’m ready for it.....
