OAKLAND — A 47-year-old man was shot and killed while using a sledgehammer to break up concrete chunks and hurl them at cars and property, and now the suspect is behind bars facing a murder charges.
The strange sequence of events started around 4 p.m. March 28, when Greer was seen using a sledgehammer to break up chunks of concrete outside the abandoned home, then began hurling them at the property and cars parked nearby, police said. At some point while Greer was doing this, Dorn allegedly exited the abandoned residence, got on a green bicycle, rode a short distance away, returned with a revolver, and shot Greer in the head.
When the cops got to the area, they quickly noted the abandoned home was full of several squatters and what turned out to be 14 stray dogs, and called for backup. Police then emptied the home and turned the dogs over to animal control. Nearby residents told investigators it was common to see squatters and dogs coming and going from the home throughout the day, authorities said.

It’s Oakland. That explains everything
I was stationed on the Coral Sea there and had to go through Oakland coming and going from the Navy base. Absolutely horrible area. Incredible to think it’s even worse today.

I just read the Oakland Board of Supervisors has voted to change the name of the Metropolitan Oakland International Airport to the
San Francisco Bay/ Oakland Airport. This, despite a trademark lawsuit from neighboring San Francisco.
Looks like Oakland wishes to hide the name Oakland, behind a more famous city. Similar to what they decided some 15 years ago. There is a very long street in Oakland that used to be called 14th St. It is now called ‘International Blvd’.
This was done after several gang type shootings in the area.

The dogs aren’t breaking the law.
I think the dogs wanted to evict the squatters.

This is what is known as a twofer. We got two very undesirable derelicts off the street in one incident.
Article doesn't mention the race of any of the participants, but it does specify the color of the bicycle the alleged shooter rode away on:

NEVER…. I repeat NEVER ride a green bicycle. Doing so tends to induce homicidal impulses in the rider.
