Lookie here - envirowhacko federal workers are caught defrauding the people and they get a slap on the wrist. They should be arrested, charged and put on trial. I wonder how many other so-called studies have been rigged?
Second thought? All of us who live in WA state should be writing to the Seattle Times to ask why they didn't consider this newsworthy. Tell them it's just another reason why their readership is slumping - they don't do the news unless it fits their agenda.

Environ-wackos making up stories? Their sisters in the abortion business do abortions on non-pregnant women.

Federal employees rigging facts/numbers to make them look better and their jobs even easier? This is really hard for me to believe! It is a good thing this would never happen with the new federal airport security force, even though there will probably be promotion, time off, and raises for the folks who stop the highest number of non-Muslim looking, non-minority looking, non-strange gendered looking traveling potential evil doers.

DNA tests are expensive. Why is money being wasted on animal DNA tests like this? Where is Senator Proxmire and his Golden Fleece award when you need him?

Another case of Liberal "ends jusfifying the means" heroism.

Thank God this was exposed, I like to fish the high mountain lakes and the only way to do it is to drive far enough in so the hike isn't ten miles long and 5000 feet in elevation change.
If this wasn't caught I may have been screwed.
Seattle Times, where are you on this story?
To: anniegetyourgun
This is nothing compared to the ongoing spotted owl hoax. Those stupid birds do not need old growth forests for habitat - they can live in second, third, fourth growth forests just fine. "Old growth forest" is a lame, arbitrary term anyway.

If these guys had been accused of sexual harrassment or of using racist language, they would have been fired on the spot. But for this far more serious offense, deliberately falsifying an official government report with enormous economic and human consequences, they are let off with a slap on the wrist. OBVIOUSLY they should all lose their jobs over this. It's a matter of trust in our government. This kind of serious and deliberate fraud must not be countenanced and should be severely punished.
I suppose that "trust in government" is not much more than a joke, but those who want citizens to trust their government should really think about what it would take to build that trust. Certainly not this kind of response to serious malfeasance.

This reflects a pattern. Activists go to work for a government regulatory agency, then collaborate with their buddies on the outside to give them consulting and expertise contracts. Thus the taxpayer funds the left, paying for assaults on his own liberty and property rights. Over the last 8 years, the federal bureaucracy has been thoroughly Clintonized, and is now basically an arm of the organized left known as the "democratic" party.

"Trust me ... I'm from the federal government and know what's best for you...."
And the national news media are going to spend how many minutes on this story?

Looks like background checks will be needed for forestry, and fish and wildlife positions, to keep out that special breed of liar known as an "Environmentalist."

"Forest Service officials say this year's errant sampling was caught and therefore did not affect the integrity of the sample survey." And how many others were not caught?
How does this relate to 'biologists' clubbing returning salmon to death to make the species appear to be 'endangered'?
To: anniegetyourgun
The employees have been counseled for their actions and banned from participating in the three-year survey of the lynx, listed as a threatened animal under the Endangered Species Act. Federal officials would not name the offending employees, citing privacy concerns. Civil Service / AFSCMEs can't be fired for anything short of murder.
To: anniegetyourgun
People have already said it but I'll chime in anyway. These grubby little liars should have been fired on the spot. Instead, they're still fattening themselves off our tax $$$s while they plot their next assault on the public. And we paid for their "counseling" too, as if that would have any effect on their fraudulent behavior. Pathetic!
To: anniegetyourgun
The employees have been counseled for their actions and banned from participating in the three-year survey of the lynx Why weren't they fired?

"These are cases of rogue biologists trying to influence natural-resources policy," Mr. West said.
Upon further examination the hairs were found to be of a polyester, and faux fur composition! Federal officials are mystified why the Commie Pinko Enviro-Socialists would pull such a bit of flummery to try and get new lands set aside for "no usage". PETA spokesperson Ima Lyre stated emphatically ... "It wasn't me, man ... it wasn't me! But let us win your hearts and minds, or we'll burn your damned huts down!"
