In a normal year, May 1 is known as National College Decision Day, the deadline for students to commit to enrolling at a college, guided in part by their financial aid awards. But the Biden administration’s disastrous rollout of a new financial aid application has left tens of thousands of families in the dark about their students’ future and prompted several universities to push back their enrollment deadlines.
As of April 19, completed FAFSA applications were down nearly 30%. At best, it means many students and parents don’t know how much it will cost to attend college in the fall. Even worse, it may lead frustrated young people to skip college altogether.

Biden is trying hard to court college-goers.
2024 enrollment is drastically down because FAFSA isn’t working and most students rely on it for grants, student loans, and scholarships. Very few students go to college without using FAFSA.
This is going to cost colleges and universities billions of dollars. It may bankrupt some.

How silly!!! Just borrow as much as you need and the American taxpayer will pick up the tab!!
College enrollment is down period, because many young adults and their parents have realized trade school offers a better future at a vastly lower cost.
The ivy leagues are immolating themselves and will have to survive off their endowments. It’s the middle tier schools that are going to have trouble.

The Ivies will survive just fine. They are the finishing schools for the children of the ruling class, and so will always fill an important niche. And there will always be an abundance of candidates seeking to network with the wealthy and influential.
Being an electrician or plumber right now is gold.
Having those relationships matters.
I’d love to know how many “trade” schools were opened with the sole purpose of scamming financial aid, kick-backs and money laundering. Very interesting, starting another career as a senior. So many people are playing the system, it’s no surprise it’s so broken.
