Ron DeSantis DELETES mentions of 'climate change' from Florida's laws and bans offshore windmills to protect sunshine state from 'green zealots'

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis claimed Wednesday that he was saving his state from 'radical green zealots' by removing references of 'climate change' from the state's energy policy and banning offshore windmills.

DeSantis, a failed 2024 presidential hopeful, signed into law a bill that additionally gives preferential treatment to natural gas companies and scraps a requirement that state-purchased vehicles are fuel efficient.

With 8,346 miles of shoreline and water surrounding three of its side, Florida is the most vulnerable or close to being the most at-risk state when it comes to climate change impacts, according to a number of metrics.

'The legislation I signed today... will keep windmills off our beaches, gas in our tanks, and China out of our state,' DeSantis wrote on X. 'We're restoring sanity in our approach to energy and rejecting the agenda of the radical green zealots.'

The White House and other Democrats pounced at DeSantis' action.

'That's pretty shameful,' White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said at Thursday's press briefing.

'And the president, as you know, has been the most progressive, has done more on climate change than any other president. And so we are committed, committed to dealing with this crisis and meeting our goals,' Jean-Pierre continued.

She added that it was 'unfortunate that there are climate deniers still out there.'

Former Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell - who's running for U.S. Senate in Florida - posted to X: 'We're on the FRONT LINES of climate change.'

'It drives the destruction of our coastal communities and economy, and fuels the insurance crisis,' she said. 'DeSantis is finishing what [Sen. Rick] Scott started when he was governor, and making sure our state doesn't stand a chance.'

Democratic Rep. Frederica Wilson, who represents part of Miami, said 'climate change is an indisputable fact, not a topic open for...

Good. Don’t want any of those offshore wind farms ruining the view and chopping up birds.

by just banning the words there’s been a 1/1000 of an inch rise in the water level of the gulf of Mexico right at the tip of perdido key this morning. called my friend, , who was fishing just opposite the key in Alabama on his cell and asked him to check his side. no change in alabama. Florida is definitely screwed.

I was born in Florida. I have lived in Tampa since 1963. Tampa Bay is now exactly were it was then. It rises and falls everyday, just like it has since records began in the 1840s. There is no new waterfront property, but if there ever is, it will be the most valuable property on the tax roll.

as fellow Florida native spent much time in the Tampa bay area and one thing you quickly learn is right after one of the regularly scheduled afternoon toad chokers there’s plenty of new waterfront properties. one of those cars that is also a boat would have been nice to have.

Are you referring to Dale Mabry and Henderson Blvd? They could triple property taxes, and tear up every drain in the area, same old story.
