Did the New York Times Cross the Line Between a Free Press and Treason?
The National Ledger ^ | 06-24-06 | Jim Kouri

Posted on 06/24/2006 11:33:44 AM PDT by Coastal

Liberal columnist Mort Kondracke echoed the sentiments of many Americans: The New York Times leaked information about a top secret banking operation, which was aimed at stopping terrorist financing and money transfers, because of their hatred for President George W. Bush.

President Bush implored the Times not to run their story, but the editors decided to disregard the presidential request. (One cannot help but wonder: If President Bill Clinton were our Commander-in-Chief today, would the editors at the New York Times comply with his request to kill the story? Most probably.)

Americans following the aftermath of the Times leak knew that part of the news story.

No they didn't cross the line, the NY Times has been firmly and proudly over that line for quite some time.

There are enough dangerous things in life which we can't avoid, nobody needs their lives being made more dangerous by the NY Times. THAT we CAN avoid by the simple expedient of shutting the place down and putting the commie bastards running it in prison where they belong.

Is there any question that they did?

They did, and there's also no question they are damn proud of themselves.

when I heard about this, I was speechless. if there is not a call for an investigation concerning all of the "leaks" to the times and other papers from some of our representatives and senators, there will be hell to pay. I would love to see the readership of the times send the editors a big message and don't buy the paper anymore, but I guess that is wishful thinking

I agree with you - They went over that line long ago.
Now, let's see if any investigation is done! I seriously doubt, if it is investigated, that anything would come of it. It would be dragged out until the American sheeple lost interest (say, about a week).
Bush ought to pull a Clinton and have the IRS make things miserable for them.

Pinch's little brain is a twisted bizarre place devoid of reason, logic, or common sense. (pinch is the little sulberger geek that was handed the reigns [no pun intended howell] by his mommy and daddy, who just happen to control the NY Times BofD.)

"Is there any question that they did?"

They certainly provided the enemy with material aid and comfort. The Times admits that no laws were being broken by this program, that Congress had been consulted, that the Judiciary was happy with it, and that revealing it would help terrorists and hurt our ability to fight terrorists. So why did they reveal it, especially after being asked not to?

According to their editor, because they could.

I say subpoena the reporters, and send the leakers to jail. If the reporters refuse to cooperate, get a writ shutting down the NYT.

The The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post crosed the line to Sedition as far and as fast as Jessie Owens Kicked Butt on the track at the '36 Olympics????

The New York Times is despicable. They have become an icon of treason, a symbol of our enemies' hatred, and a beacon lighting the way for all who would cause us harm.

Bush can no longer inform Rat members of Congress about security programs. And the New York Times needs to be brought to justice for this and previous breaches of the law.

I wonder! If Freepers purchased stock in the NYTs could we make a difference and demand accountability?

Anyone buying stock would have to be prepared to take a loss.

I'm not sure I'd want to own this rag's stock but I throw it out for discussion.

The "New York Times" and "Washington Post" are not monolithic faceless alien oracles.

They are run by the the likes of the leftist homosexual on the right, ARTHUR SULZBERGER JR, and the socialist crook on the left, DONALD GRAHAM, Chair and CEO of Newsweek and Washington Post, son of CATHERINE GRAHAM MEYER, former owner of the Washington Post.

Every day these 2 enemies of the state unleash a horde of minor league propagandists on the American psyche in a blatant attempt to topple any GOP government that is elected by the American people.

They do not care if innocent civilians or soldiers die as a result and national security be damned.

2006 is the year they will be stopped.

They will no longer be able to hide unde a cloak of annonymity.

They will be exposed and their names equated with treacherous acts.

They and their komrades will be surveilled and brought up on charges.
