Russian scientist predicts global coolingMOSCOW, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- A Russian scientist predicts a period of global cooling in coming decades, followed by a warmer interval.
Khabibullo Abdusamatov expects a repeat of the period known as the Little Ice Age. During the 16th century, the Baltic Sea froze so hard that hotels were built on the ice for people crossing the sea in coaches.
The Little Ice Age is believed to have contributed to the end of the Norse colony in Greenland, which was founded during an interval of much warmer weather.
Abdusamatov and his colleagues at the Russian Academy of Sciences astronomical observatory said the prediction is based on measurement of solar emissions, Novosti reported. They expect the cooling to begin within a few years and to reach its peak between 2055 and 2060.
"The Kyoto initiatives to save the planet from the greenhouse effect should be put off until better times," he said. "The global temperature maximum has been reached on Earth, and Earth's global temperature will decline to a climatic minimum even without the Kyoto protocol."

Eighty-year cycles do not have much influence either, although 200-year cycles are much more powerful. The theory, the scientist told Pravda.Ru, was not considered a common scientific theory in the world. “The whole world has recognized the global warming theory, which pictures catastrophic situations in the future. I do not march in step with the world at this point. However, my theory has raised a certain interest in other countries. Hardly had I made a statement to RIA Novosti when I received several messages from scientists living in the USA, Iceland and other countries. They wanted to know more of my theory. They also want to know if I have delivered a detailed report on the matter and where it was published,” the scientist said."
I went in China some month ago, and in many big cities pollution, due to CO2 (and other chemical substances), is really unbearable.
Grapes for wine could no longer be cultivated in Northern Europe and thus Brewing Beer became prevalent.

I have often wondered if socking away carbon in oil and coal deposits is what is responsible for the demise of Mega-Fauna (dinosaurs, giant sloths, stc, etc). Maybe the bio-available carbon got below some critical threshold where they could not survive. Maybe our digging that stuff up and releasing the carbon back to the biosphere will result in a new explosion of life on this planet. What the hey, it makes sense to me.

I doubt you were able to notice a difference between the co2 level in China and the the level in your own home. The difference is incredibly small only about 200 parts per million.
The fine particle pollution on the other hand is very noticable. It is important to not confuse one with the other.

In Shanghai, you can see easily the milky haze over the city, the smog is so thick that you may mistake the smog for an overcast day.

This guy said three years. The election is in two. If a Dem is elected and the following year the temperature is cooler - "See! Aren't you glad you elected us to get rid of global warming?!"
And if they lose, it will be because they brought it up as an election issue and force the Republicans to deal with it.
Anyway - I don't believe this Russkie - measuring the SUN to figure out EARTH'S temperature! Bah!
It must be a slow "climate catastrophe/sky is falling" news day. This story goes back to February.

I'm sure that is so but co2 sure isn't the cause.
Newsweek was on to this in 1975, long before they were on to Global Warming:
