Barack and Michelle Obama were at their informal best when they broke into a jig at symbolic Diwali festivities in a city school on Sunday, winning huge fans in students who were floored by the warmth and the relaxed manner of the US first couple.
The children of Holy Name High School in South Mumbai were impressed by the visiting dignitaries who lit 'diyas' (earthen lamps), swayed to the traditional Koli folk music and attentively listened to their presentations on environment and global warming.
The Obamas mingled freely with the children signing autographs, posing for pictures with them and their parents.
"This was a golden opportunity for us and the school," a student, who was visibly excited after meeting the couple, said.
"We hardly had any time for preparations. Our mid-term examinations got over on October 30 and we were busy with preparations for welcoming the Obamas rather than celebrating Diwali holidays. But we are happy," another student who participated in the dance performance, said.

Children are easily decieved. The thinking adults are angry at him for something. I didn’t get the whole story on the TV.
This Kenyan clown is supposed to be representing our country as the head of state, not cutting an undignified and ludicrous jig.
Once the Kenyan Clown moves back to Kenya, he is welcome to caper about in whatever foolish manner that he desires, but I would prefer that while he occupies the Oval Office that he act with whatever degree of dignity he can muster.
Okay, I have to say it..Looks more like the Obama’s did a jig with the Lolly Pop Guild of Munchkin Land.
So they decide at the last minute to take Big Foot and the girls, then visit A SCHOOL without taking the girls to it? I guess it wasn’t hoity toity enough.

BTW...is that the White house being parachuted in behind her? Not far from the truth...
I just can’t stand these people. What is WRONG with this country to allow these two to be in the White House? They look and act like clowns. They are certainly not representative of what made this country great.
I wish they’d stay in Mumbai.
